The cover around the place is still pretty good I reckon for the time of the year. Another one from the Pass today.
Charlotte Pass Lookout 15/10/21 Part 1.
Yes it is snow in the pictures.
The stones were fairly visible today, rest of the Range was missing in the cloud, snow.
Paralyser Valley.
Guthries Ridge from Spencers.
CP Creek from CP.
And then the Sun comes out for 3 minutes, Gutheries from Turning Circle.
Turning Circle not cleared of snow so a little tighter than normal for parking.
Yeah I thought tomorrow was going to be the day but looks like today would've been the go. Either way it's 2022 for me.
The crossing looked better again today, as does the route out to Clarke, Lee & Caruthers, some of shrubbery is now skiable over.
The new snow cover is pretty good including plenty of new loading on cornice slopes. It had no cohesion today and was falling away in pretty big chunks at the slightest provocation. Check out the East face of Little Paralyser, plenty of pinwheels and other junk self launching to the creek below.
These were the first test pops off a jump built next to the CP Lookout stairs. I did not stay for the planned rail grinding, it looked like carnage waiting to happen.
Nice little freshen up out on the MR. Should make for good corn when it freezes.
View from the Stillwell Ridge?
How was the snow up there?
Yep Stillwell Ridge at about 2 this arvo, snow was actually ok’ish all the way to the village. Not too slow. Feeling very fortunate to be here after several false starts this winter. May as well put up anothery from early today.
Yesterday Mr Barr decided to let us Canberrans off the chain so we could go for a ski. After a flurry of PMs, text messages and phone calls a sorte out of Canberra was arranged.
Heading up past Sponors we could see snow down to a fairly low level for October. We decided to tackle Guthrie’s.
No hoofing through chest high tee tree here!!!
After saying hello to @SMSkier and a little skinning we reached the trig marker.
We did laps up and down Guthrie’s on a buttery surface until yielding to hunger pains. The turnaround at CP was chockers so we hightailed it to Steves.
A most enjoyable hit out after 9 weeks in lockdown
