Finally some rain in Melbourne. On the way to the airport and it's nicely falling down... don't think it will last very long.

Hello Autumn! Lets hope Sydney actually gets a "autumn" this year rather then a hot march and 2 cold outbreaks that push us into winter and skip autumn!

Perhaps a mm or 2 at most. At least the garden gets a bit of a drink, first time in a while.

I observe that the minimum overnight temperature was a very pleasant 12.7C here in Canberra.

I predict that we will see colder temps in the months ahead.

Same here, merely the flapping of birds wings a mouse moving by disturbs it. NBM rollout map says it's active in my area.

Nice cool start to Autumn down South. Clear blue skies to start the day have clouded over so temps staying low this morning. Later summer!!

Finally woke to the sound of light rain, it's been awhile. Gauge shows just under 2mm, prefer more but we'll take what's given.

After a stinker of summer, I'm looking forward to a cooler weather. But all I see in the forecast is no rain and max temps in the high-20s to low-30s.

GFS long range sees no end in sight:
    http://wxmaps.org/pix/prec7

Might have to wait until Easter or even later.

I feel like this will be an "Indian summer" and go on for a while yet... at least in the eastern states.

My Folks back in Perth were basically offended that Perth did not see a 40 degree day this summer

0.4mm of drizzle in the Latrobe Valley. This is the time of the year when we see all those promising cold fronts coming up through the bight, only to see them ridged out and bugger all rain. Good for bike riding and other outdoor activities though.

We received 1mm this morning to open our march account.

Very dry up here throughout the strezlecki rangers, the driest it's been for a few years at least!

We finished on 12mm for the month of feb, 40mm behind its average of 52mm

Right on cue with Autumn, the first few emails with Scoopon deals to Perisher have begun.

Won't be long before we see the first "What will the snow be like on [insert holiday dates here]" post.

Your lucky , om the western side of the hills we have the satellite version of NBN and seriously if a frog farts then it disrupts the NBN which is no different to the mobile broadband we had before. I had a laugh tis morning though , went into town and watched a guy putting a new 4G poster on the remaining telephone booths , you know the poster ad " more coverage than before " and then looked at my own phone not 3 metres from this poster to see 3G network on the screen.

Telstra have the best of the mobile coverage round these parts , the others struggle significantly , so its a case of the devil you know.

Originally an Indian Summer was one of those pejorative terms from rural America that described a period of warm, settled, late summer weather that follows an early killing frost. In other words, given that all the crops had been flattened by frost, the nice summery weather was as useless as an Indian.

I reckon so, my leading indicator being that I am already into my first cold of the winter caught from close contact with my two grandkids who attend daycare and preschool. That compensatory benefit might not logically follow but it helps haha.
