EC is looking good for 17th March to break down this High-pressure domination. Just so far away though...
Footy starts for real next week , another milestone on the path to winter almost reached.
Footy round 2 started already tobight
Feels like Autumn and the leaves are starting to change colour.
Upper Blue Mtns
Nasty leaves from the street trees...Had to council the Bears cos they thought of torching a few piles raked up by Ubi.
Burning leaves in the street ...that would have been a sight...
Smoking out the parents in SUVs assisting the kiddies to their educational institutions...
On the other hand they could have been all raked into gutter to await the weekend rains...down the street the biomass goes and into the storm water drains another interesting possibility.
Nasty deciduous street trees.....and no sooner does Ubi rake them up only to find a whole lot more the following week.
Perhaps a dedicated effort with lawn mower with a catcher....ohh Autumn and those bloody leaves....
The god dam futility of the operations to keep the nature strip neat and tidy....
The transition from Summer to Autumn in the BM's and Western Sydney reminds of a work colleague who has a melt down on Friday and rocks up to work on Monday morning like nothing ever happened. A few warm days to come through March sure but its certainly been a big change from only a few weeks ago.
Cold ull cut/off consensus.
Humidity suggesting enhanced convective activity. Ok this is becoming boring.
Locked and loaded.
Some good storms in Adelaide in the afternoon a strong possibility, Gippsland too, maybe Melbourne...
Had to put a jumper on yesterday until lunch time. It's coming.
I had the ugg boots on for the early surf today, that means its starting to get close!
Uggies, boardies and a flanno for the win.
Chick's dig it.
Lets see now ................soft , softer and unusually soft.
Cement anyone ?
The funny thing was I had Ugg boots on but actually surfed in boardies while everyone was in wetsuits
Well Melb has been boring all day sunny and still around 30 degC...
Where is all this rain that is predicted?
Bears are all excited...the Team have not seen rain for weeks.Grass stopped growing in backyard which seems to be the only positive...
A couple of drops in Box Hill just now...
Back on topic ...
Rumble of thunder over Melb Sth East Subs!
Coming off average daily maximums of 36 degrees for January and February. Body is in heat mode with blood at the surface. So when i get an 11 degree morning i'm rugging the fark up!
pfft 11c , that's almost a normal summer morning here. Its only considered coolish at 1c , cold doesn't happen until it gets to -1c.
However its all relative to what your used to but I do have some bags of 'crete to distribute if needed................
Left over from your summer dosage? I recall a bit of complaining about some not so hot days.
Radar shows cloud band/rain band coming over Otways.....frontal system looks like its over SA/VIC border.....
Must have me confused with someone else , I love the cold , colder the better. I am a child of winter. Not so keen on the hot stuff though.
When are we ever going to get a decent rain event for the s?outhern tablelands south west slopes & Riverina?
BOM keps promising only to see the totals projected evaporate!!! Like tomorrow for Canberra now nothing.
2mm at my place near Tumbarumba , main event seems to be somewhat south and west of here.
Looks like some starting tonight and tomoz ...
Looks like the clouds are bubbling away over the city atm. Looking out over the bay from docklands they're looking darker and more foreboding by the minute...
I wrote a little something about the Southern Annular Mode with some interesting stuff about seasonal prediction and it's association with ENSO.
delta is your friend jelly.
POAMA has been going for a very warm and hot Autumn over southern Australia for a while now..I think winter is still a fair way off.
I try to fly Delta when in the US, because of that. Gonna buy wxbell to improve the blog soon though.
There's a big rumbling and flashing out to sea just now.
True to the models...
Armageddon tomoz (again)
Probs the worst weather-story of the season too... It should read; "Journalism at it's worst for the season...."
in Perth today
That guy has good bird deterant installed...
I wonder why "ferocious" and "giant hail" are in quotation marks but the quotations not sited. Maybe the "journalist" is quoting themselves, or perhaps the guy/gal that makes his coffee?
Also in Perth via Ch 7 fb
Big black incoming sky west of upper Blue Mtns
Some awesome storm activity in Dubbo this morning. Not to windy and nothing destructive just lots of very close lightning strikes and house rumbling stuff. More building up around here now.
Looked to start out around Nyngan then developed further near Dubbo and got really happening around Orange & Cowra.
Didin't get to the Coast , as I was planning work around it would , fizzed just at it got to Goulburn & the range.
looking a bit sparky now around your way @nfip
Thats a bit out of date Majik because it is on again in Dubbo as i type. Plenty of noise light and rain here again.
hail and intense rain for 15 minutes. Lots flowing water about.
Bears demonstrating hail/cyclonic weather alert drill.....
Bears say stay safe everybody!! Bears bit scared of lightning ...not sure their picnic tables will provide safety if they were to take a direct hit.
Nice, this is teleconnection stuff. I have a hunch that a changing SAM, rather than +ve or -ve coupled with the right dipole is important to early season success.
Missed me but lit up further South & and out West near SB as he mentioned.
No noise btw , but blardy dark.
