All a gimmick for the people making it. The scenario was a 25 minute walk to known coordinates instead it took what.. 15min setup and 90 second flight then 10 minutes to get all the gear off not to count the countless hours of work in the gym to get the arms strong enough to hold the thing. After all that a helicopter was called.

Went for a bit of a walk out from Charlotte today and was quite surprised how much has melted already on the flat parts.
Did a bit of walking around just to enjoy the serenity and did four runs off Carruthers. Must have been warm last night cause first run in to Club lake was about 9am and it was already soft.

For those that have been up there this weekend, what are my chances of having anything left to ski by the end of next week/week after considering the rain forecast? Particularly Carruthers.

If the rain comes off I’d say it will be a walk up in boots to ski some slim lines.

Last ski for the season at Little Austria and Club Lake with Kletterer and Levamark. Snow was mushy.

Yes it's a great run. Pity we couldn't ski down further to James Macarthur Crk. Slim pickings is better than no pickings I suppose.

Really enjoyed it despite the sticky surface. Legs recovering well today so it's off to do some searching for a pig in the Tinderries tomorrow . Could be some sketchy route finding choices

Couple more from this morning with @chicski ..... I skied it this year in May with those early season snowfalls but it’s vanishing fast.... upcoming weather won’t help it hold up unfortunately.

Went for a fun walk/bash/boulder today in the Tinderries. Started on Round Flat fire trail and continued straight ahead to Roberts Creek . From there it was straight up the hill ( 1450m elevation) to a peak circa 1.75 km Southeast of Tinderry Peak. A bit of zig zagging to find a route of lesser resistance. Lots of impressive granite boulders along the way with some fantastic well featured boulders at the top.Slabs in the second pic are named Groggy Slabs

Unburnt and not too hard a slog . Upper section gets a bit selective due to lots of rock so you need to approach it from the left and circle back a bit at the top. A very rewarding array of views for 2.5 odd hours effort .

Lots of rain on the MR :(. NSW Parks closures map is however showing the Bimberi Wilderness portion that is in NSW to be open. Oldfield to Bimberi Peak is OK as long as you don't step right off the simmit track into ACT

South of Kiandra looking toasted and struggling to grow back. Very sad weekend despite the warm weather. I’ve had enough walking in fire affected areas this year. Time for some Jagungal rambles I think.

Perfect time to search out and follow the old border markers on those peaks. The walk from Yaouk Gap to Mt Murray, Bimberi and down Leura gap is always a good time. Its a dawdle now that its been burnt, well it was in June

Anyone have any idea of when southern Blue Mountains NP south of the Coxs (noting that north of the Coxs is open) is planned to be open? @ecowain ? @Untele-whippet ?

Looks like the exact spot we got evacuated from on NYD is about the only spot that burned at Geehi Flats :(

Yes it would. Went to dumbano tunnels last week (the catchment north of gooches crater). All the little streams had water in them. Don't think it is a tarn this season though

No idea of exact times. But probably soon. Kedumba campground opened recently, as did the Grose upstream of Pierces pass, and the Capertee / coorongooba maze. That all got char grilled as well, so don't imagine kanangra too far away.

Plenty of pics on the socials of folks walking in closed places like blue gum this weekend (which is annoying).

Liked, but in a non-liking way.

I'm worn out by all of the badly burned special places this year. It's not as peaceful for me as usual. And i find the lack of respect over environmental closures that many are showing equally disheartening (not pointed at anybody here).

    One of the best.

Going in from Pockets Saddle Rd? I hope the ring they dozed around it during the fires is starting to grow over. It was pretty obvious in June.
