Hoping up top is getting snow!
14 day forecast is good with snow every day bar 3, trouble is the forecast stops just before we get there,have to wait a couple more days to see whats in store for when we're there
Still full coverage on all the resorts I saw from Kashi to Happo this morning so no real impact at all. We got up and went to ride this morning but it was still raining and started to get windy so caned it on the way and have done chores instead.

Any forecast beyond a couple days is a hoax in my experience, much too much local influences so dont stress.
Great conditions at TSG this morning with the pow on the groomers being on a much softer base that in the trees and definitely the better option early. Good times with a minimal crowd whilst the sheep went to Cortina as usual. On the flip side the lift companies are particularly frustrating this year with lifts opening late nearly every day. Its simply not good enough.
How difficult is it to get a taxi from Hakuba station, and do they have room for ski bags? We arrive mid-morning and our lodge doesn't do pick ups unfortunately.

When you arrive see if I am open, if so pop in and say hi mate! If there are no taxis around we will call you one which is a common issue this year.
I understand they shut the top at some stage this morning. A lot of dry pow on an icey base will do that

I have to confess I’ve been that way tens of times and never been in. I’m usually too excited about the propsoect of proper coffee at Bamboo!
Hopefully I’m there again mid to late Feb. I’ll pop in then. My bad.

11 January Avalanche note:
Lots of cracking in 50-70cm of storm snow on the rain crust being reported from around 1600m-1900m yesterday. Similar conditions may also be found at other elevations. Cracking in snow ahead of a skier is closely correlated with dangerous avalanche conditions. Don't try and outsmart the snowpack. Simple reliable fact: there is a thick warm crust from rain with a rapid load of storm deep storm snow on top. Also do not assume that rain crusts become more stable with time. Sometimes they do not. Sometimes they become less stable. Do not trust crusts on steep terrain.

Surprisingly, the powder of the technical course was 50 cm deep. It seems that the snow from the last night as well as last night combined, and because of the light snow quality, the snow smoke rises even in a shallow turn, "Face Shot Repeated". Foreigners who were covered with whole body snow were conspicuous, and high - tension cheers were rising there accordingly.
Epic morning of 1st tracks nearly every run, trees, friends and bugger all people. GOLD!Hi Guys, Going to do a last minute trip to Hakuba 4-10th Feb. I'm looking for a recommendation for cheap accommodation - that may still be available. I was thinking about Tsugaike but no real preference. I will be there with my 18 y.o. daughter who has two weeks skiing experience. looking on booking.com and am hoping to match a name with something that is available.
