Some drone footage we grabbed on a recent trip to the Myoko area - 4 Feb 2018
Anyone know of any self contained house accommodation for up to ten people in the Myoko area for Dec/Jan 2018? Google not really finding anything
Not at this stage and not very likely unfortunately......
Year after tho we have pencilled in trip with the respective Daughters who have all grown up and skiid together since day dot.
Plenty on the radar for the winter back home tho , a full week or so plus Interschools & every second weekend standard programming.
Back and side country dinking included as you can imagine

Picked up at Iiyama , pretty sure they have office at Nagano also.
There are car hire places at the shinkansen stations. So you are looking at Nagano, Iiyama or Joetsu. Joetsu is the easiset and maybe shortest to Akakura , which is where I assume you mean by Myoko. Look at tocoo. But I googled car hire in Niigata a while ago and got another website that gave good deals. Cannot remember who it was but it was not Tocoo. It was for pick up from Niigata airport but also gave shinkansen stations as options.
book 4wd but as many have learnt booking, even way in advance, does not mean you will get. Be prepared to buy chains. Unless you are going on really remote roads or traveling in the wee hours that will be fine. We had someone unable to get to Madarao via Tangram in a 4wd but it was at midnight in a blizzard. They got through at 7am the next morning, after the roads had been cleared.

I was there in January 2018 and that shop was open. Also, the restaurant next door (pink establishment) serves great food.Down the hill a couple of hundred metres from the Madarao Kogen Hotel towards Iiyama on the left?
