Panorama Park. They were running a ski cat up there last season. Hopefully again this season.

Myoko Panorama Park 妙高パノラマパークスキー場 was a ski area located behind Myoko Kogen Station in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture 新潟県妙高市. Myoko Panorama Park has been closed since 2003 but various structures remain on the hill.

They say closed in 2003 but it was way before then - around 1996 I believe. I spent a lot of summer 2003 in and around Myoko and the place was already a wreck then - overgrown and vandalised.

Here's a photo of one of the lodges from my rides around the area in 2003. This place had been thoroughly trashed.

Sorry to hear about such behaviour I didn’t think vandalism and lack of respect for other people’s property was part of the Japanese psyche.

Heard yesterday some people were so convinced that this season was on they bought Myoko season passes and had them posted to Australia. Non-refundable for those with second thoughts.

8 and a half weeks until I hopefully step off the train ay Myoko- Kogan station, i think its 28 days today until the first Qantas flight departs for Tokyo

Season started late but has got going rapidly in the last 3 days or so.

Best start to the season since 15/16. One local Madarao owner told me he's been clearing snow continuously since Dec 18.

Wonder why it took them so long to open most of the resort.

Had a conversation with someone at Madarao last night. They need to move some snow because the snow hanging off the roof is joining with the 5 metres + snow on the ground.

Just hoping both my places are ok. Nothing I can do about it so not going to worry. But Chalet Myoko cannot be worse than the year we bought it. Apart from losing the stupid attic windows out the back it survived a 28 metre season.

Quite crazy to think that Myoko has had 819cm of snow at base level so far this season. In Contrast, Hakuba has had 343cm at base level.

I'm pretty sure that if you look at the records Myoko has consistently had much more snow than Hakuba for the last few seasons.

I think that ratio is pretty normal.

Of course certain other places have way more snow than Myoko.

His lodge is in Shiga Kogen , so probably doesn't know much about Hakuba hahaha
