Due to hit southern Japan by Saturday, but likely to have weakened again by then.

The eye on Typhoon Talim is almost gone, but there's a huge amount of cloud extending more than 2000km across Japan.

Kyushu is being hammered by rain, and parts of Miyazaki Prefecture has copped a lot of rain... Miyazaki Airport has had 131mm of rain in two hours

After some hot days in mid September, looks like it's finally settled down the last week or two with seasonable max temperatures in the mid 20s.
The next quantum step looks like arriving next week from about the 4th Oct, with a string of low 20s temperatures.

Yes, nights going from around 20 degrees down to 14-15 degrees..... the late summer drop (which was late) and the early autumn drop, looks like happening within around 3 weeks of each other. The early autumn drop looks like it's 10-14 days early.

So after a very unusual 29 degrees in Tokyo yesterday, we are expecting 16 degree tomorrow, with a low of 13. Coldest since around April.

What are the thoughts generally for the season on Nagano region? I have taken a risk and booked new year period at madarao.

I notice JPA have hedged bets by saying normal conditions expected for the season

No clue lol, says the man who looks @bom plots with cold fronts @12hrs
out and declares it will snow in the vic alps. To funny.

My 6 year old nephew can do that to.

Well, 19.5 degrees today in Tokyo, and now expecting a min of 10, max of 12 tomorrow..... crazy weather for October!!!!
10.1 in Tokyo this morning. The daily max will be warmer than 12 degrees, because of the way they measure max/min. In Australia, max is measured from 9am-9pm; on JMA it's measured on calendar day, so it was 12.3 at 12:14am, and that might be the max for the day. A few of days ago, it was similar; around 15 degrees just after midnight, but after 6am, it never got above about 13.

This October has been the 5th wettest on record for Tokyo.... and with more rain associated with another typhoon this weekend, it looks like it could move up into 4th place, or as high as 2nd.

It's now the 4th highest precipitation total for Tokyo in October: 440.5mm

The heavier typhoon rain has just starting coming down in the last 2 hours. Another 90mm is required for 3rd (530mm) or 93mm for 2nd (533mm). We will NOT hit the highest (780mm) !!!!! ;)
