After 35 hours of travel we made it from Myoko
(TR here) to Pamporovo. Bulgaria is loose. No one cares where you walk with an open beer can, even if it's taking a shortcut through a hotel or fitting an extra person on the chair. The food is great and the national drink Rakia (fruit brandy) is brilliant. Pamporovo is a very mellow hill other than a few blacks. Beer is impossibly cheap here. 3.5l for LEV 3.00, about $2.40.

The hotels look great on the outside and in the lobby, but the rooms are dodgy, but the vomit stains in the hallway carpet make up for everything else.

Our Demo runs have really come together, on snow workshops and the indoor presentations have been finalised and we are ready for the Interski opening ceremony tomorrow.

Enjoying the trip report but a little curious, is it a ski trip with a bit of drinking involved or a drinking trip with a bit of skiing involved?

Skiing trip with a bit of drinking. A lot of useful talk happens at the bar.

I skied with the Family at Bulgaria/Pamporova last year.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Including 3 Adult kids. We are a mixture of Skills from solid Intermediate to Expert.

Pamporova is located in southern Bulgaria in the Rhodope mountains only about 20kms from Greek border (as the crow flies). It is about 4hrs drive from Sofia (the capital) and can be reached by regular bus service or private transfer. Private Transfer is around $200 for upto 6 people so very good value.
Pamps is the 3rd largest resort in Bulgaria after Bansko (Pirin mtns) and Borovets (Rila mtns) and is marketed heavily as family friendly and Beginner friendly. Whilst there are some very good Green runs and plenty of Blue, there is still plenty of Red and a few black to keep more experienced entertained (i think the resort sells itself short here.)
The Rhodope Mountains are very old and well worn so think more of Australian peaks than French Alps. On paper the resort statistics claim 200m of vertical !! Which is underwhelming. However someone must have had to much "Slivovitz" on the translation night because the actual Base is around 1420m ASL and Top lift is 1950m ASL. Your lift ticket also gives you access to the sister resort of Mechi Chal (15min free bus trip) Where the single peak has around 700m vertical (all red/black) serviced by a new quad chair and no crowds. The resort has a number of great runs which are upto 4k in length with good pitch so think of a cross between Thredbo and Perisher.
