Same as water swirling around past a pier or a rock in a river current.
Cracking day up at Smiggins by the looks of it.
Well it’s in weather forum ...but good to catch attention in here perhaps
Off to the Fire Season thread...
I havent had much of a chance to look at weather since snow season, but I like what I see mid/late next week in terms of rainfall for the Eastern part of the country. Remnants of TC Owen linking up with a deep trough to generate widespread showers/storms across 3 states is the go. I think I just want to see 2010/11 all over again.
I was just checking out the charts as well. Very extended trough pattern for se Aus, effectively starting this weekend and stretching into next weekend but really deepening mid-late week.
What else you gonna do when it's 38C outside? Look at the charts to see when the rain is coming of course.
Not that hot in Canberra but warm enough. Whilst we had some reasonable Spring rain I was just having the thought this morning 'when is it going to again'!
be carefull what you pray for.
we got the whole of year 12 going camping for the week.
we're prepping them with tarps, wet weather gear, (snorkel, epirbs )
some impressive 10 day totes for the inland on EC.
GFS favouring the East Coast
When doesnt GFS favour the East coast?
Yeah but without the Toowoomba storm.
I actually did think that as I wrote it .
Looked better the other day TBH. I think major models are a bit gun shy on it ATM.
Hit 40 today on the Surf Coast. How much fun is this !
Australia is getting fried every year. What is going on with this heat?!!!!!!!
My wz forecast for Thursday is 'Possible Shower' 40-80mm. Lel.
Major models are aligned and locked in here now.
This thing could potentially solve alot of problems inland.
Reminds me of the deepening low in the SE last Dec, with the upper level component threading the eye of the needle through SA and drawing in the inland troff.
EC also has a landphoon forming to the West of GoC on Thursday which GFS doesn't wanna know about. An interesting feature that should be watched.
Solid (-) OLR values through inland SA/NSW are evident in our current phase (Thursday-Saturday's system).
Something or nothing building west of the high perch
This arvo gfs is looking big rainfall wise for southern vic Thursday/Friday next week !!
Absolutely still near JB Plain...bit weird ...it’s been a very hot day down Lower....I was expecting violent thunderstorms.
Thought I heard a rumble just now....radar showing some colour down Mansfield way....we have had a few drops this arvo since I got up here....better not get dry lightening or things will not be good on the lower slopes which have been baking all day.
Off to bed in a min. got stuff all sleep in Melb last night.
31 in Jindy today, very hot in the paddock.
It’s was a very warm day @dawooduck.
Breeze picked up here circa 8:30 p.m. but has backed off now....it’s still quite warm for the mountains. Paddocks drying out very quick.
And now some rain and a little subdued lightning off to the east.
AXS G tagging in
Mid-arvo should see the propagation of some storms through Macedon, Southern Alps (Vic) and southern GDR in to NSW this arvo.
Oodles of potential through Vic, but I do like the prospect of severe stuff leeward of the Brindies (ACT) & Snowy Mountains tonight.
Looking really good for the folk out west this week.
Has a strong scent of pineapple into the cut-off.
Plenty of good viewing.
Buller just scraped 15mm out of the sky in the last hour. Solid.
And the boys light up...
A few rumbles earlier here in inner Melbs
Moruya and the Bay in the firing line shortly.
GFS going quite bullish with the amount of trough axis dilation- vorticity next weekend imo.
A bit of wickedness North and South
GFS above and EC below. Could be reason for concern if this eventuates
Thunderstorm warning updated to include Melbourne now.
Bendigo picking up 13mm of precip today so far.
Radar lighting up through Central and Eastern regions of the state.
Southern Riverina (NSW) has a warning up to. The cross-graining cell North East of Deni @ Jerilderie is on fire right now, moving ENE.
Sydney currently overshadowed by the single cell's overshoot; some 80 kms SW of the city. Completely clear to the North of the city. What a shame, as it's spoiling a cracker of an arvo here.
Looking South across the harbour.
It started raining about 1230 in Jindy and then patchy rain right through to Bowral.
EC's pretty much locked in the wetness for the latter part of the week.
Where’s that for cc? Done some property Reno this weekend, still got alot of rendering and painting to do. Do you think we’re going to get much wednesday onwards?
Should see plenny throughout the SE.
Along the GDR is showing maxima on EC & GFS.
It's for Melbourne. There's a fair bit more progged for the Dandenongs (which IIRC you are based in).
Moderately heavy rain in Ovens.Vallley as we left Hotham at six thirty...
Scary thunderstorm Passing over Eurora!! Approx 9.15pm
The amusing thing for me about the pending rain event for us is that it falls on my work Christmas party on Friday and the big December rain event from last year fell on, you guessed it, my work Christmas party on a Friday... Perhaps it's an omen.
Better get busy in the next few days then, thanks guys
