And capturing any water from the natural environment for commercial use is plain bad and unacceptable to the green leaning folk.

And then, after the little storm, nature throws this at us from around the verandah. Sometimes, you just have to take a deep breath, relax and appreciate it.....

That is an insane amount of rain for a single weather event. If the dam had been at a miserable 16% like it was this time last year I'm sure the outcome would have been less catastrophic. Anyway what left of this event has finally moved back north. Should be gone by Sunday night.

Bugger-all in it. Cape Otway only picked up 0.6mm. And Colac nada.
Cooler air is there though. Cape Otway currently on a mild 13C.

EC deep layer plot shows plenty of increase in wind speed with altitude. Nice tight Vorticity pattern is still there too- like an ice skater when they spin and pull arms in close- velocity increases.

Nice rain band just starting to hit me over the past 15min. Looks fairly thick, hopefully get the 10mm that was forecast.

Temp drop from 15c to now 12c

I reckon we’d be up to about 3 or 4mm now. Been so long since we’ve had a proper shower of rain!

It rained consistently in South Yarra for a good 45 minutes this morning. It started just as I got underway with a run around the Tan and finished just as I got back to my street! :(LOL

Blowing a gale at Moonbah with rain in the far distance towards the border. But looks to be heading this way!

Left Thredbo about 45 mins ago. It was cold, overcast and a little light rain-but not much. Did not feel like Summer . But that didn’t deter folks from attending the craft beer stands!! :emoji_beers:

This just scoots through the harbour, deteriorated to a light shower at the coast now lifting again out to sea.

FWIW Hotham just dropped below zero. First time for mainland Australia since 2018? All other locations appear to be above zero for now.

Is that all? It only suggesting up to 24mm for here. We had steady rain the whole day with only a couple of shorter dry periods. OTOH, there is no official records kept for here - have to rely on farmers for the real thing. But I would have thought more like 30-35mm here.
