Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms developing Thursday morning - flash flooding may result.
Weather Situation: A low pressure trough will move slowly eastwards across Victoria during Thursday, deepening into a low pressure system over central parts of the State.
Rain areas and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the warning area from the west during Thursday morning, with periods of heavy rainfall likely that may lead to flash flooding. Rainfall totals of 30 to 50mm are expected during the morning and afternoon - with locally higher totals in the 50 to 100mm range possible.
Locations which may be affected include Horsham, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Wodonga and Wangaratta.
I predict that somebody, somewhere, will call f****r when they don't pick up at least 30mm out of this.
My money is on Bendigo

Already some weather about, with some storms north of Bairnsdale, and a few popping up in the Wimmera near Horsham and west of Hamilton too

Not often you see lightning this widespread.

Your time will come
Had some nice clouds forming over the Yarra ranges earlier this afternoon and a bit of a wind. Cleared up mostly now. The calm before the storm.
EC has wound back figures for Melbourne for tomorrow to 30mm.
With another 30 on Friday, mostly early am.
Looks like Apollo Bay and Lorne are in the firing line, EC going for over 110mm
Sounds a bit more reasonable. All the action has stayed to the west so far this evening, bit disappointing. Held off after work building and rendering tonight just in case, should of run the gauntlet. Would of got some action then.
Mrs is in a little rex plane in Stormy skies this evening. WOuld be fun.
It looked like something serious building when I got home, all dissipated now.

Another 14mm in Dubbo last night after 10mm the night before.
Yep, with more to come
Current radar loop suggesting Bendigo is in the path of a big storm. They might actually get some rain.
Looks like it might find its way further south and hit the metro area too. Fingers crossed.
A couple of gauges near Wang have already cracked the ton
CFA are smiling this week!
Nervous smile. This is pretty much the critical point of the summer fire season. This amount of rain is a godsend, but if it stops after this, in 4-6 weeks time after furious growth then die-off, we could be in for a bad late-season bushfire period. From this point on, it needs to keep on raining semi-consistently (average rainfall totals for the month or better) to relieve the threat.
The recent rains have certainly changed the fire season outlook or at least delayed it.
Melbourne radar looks mint right now
My olds have told me they only received 1mm overnight. Bendigo donut must have shifted east for this system
Well, until now - radar looks like a good cell is dumping there right now
