    From their website...............

Future plans to increase snowmaking at Perisher
Perisher plans to increase snowmaking coverage to 110 hectares, aiming to have all the trails linking the four ski areas covered from the seasons start to finish. All new snowmaking at Perisher will be automated to ensure that all snowmaking opportunities are maximised and that the snowmaking operation is as efficient as it can be. Perisher also plans to automate its existing snowmaking over time. The result - skiers and boarders will be able to ski to and from each of the four areas all season long!

Lets see how long this takes.

I reckon with some strategic grooming , pushing and poaching they'd get the place turning.
    At least the 2 T's.
Enough for the local club members in the Village.
    IMO.
The issue is that it is now part of the bigger pic so they need connectivity , safe passage to and from because when the lifts are shown to be open the masses will try get over there from Cow Terminal.
Despite the ropes at Early Starter being up etc.
    My thoughts anyways fwiw.

Where do the groomers sit and work out of now? Blue Cow?
    No groomers parked at Guthega?

So why can't they get the hill up and going without connection to Blue Cow?
Make it public knowledge that access is only available from Guthega car park etc. until natural snowfall/snowmaking opens it up to Blue Cow?

I don't know enough about it , have never worked in mtn ops or driven a groomer.
think now it's simply just the biz of running a big resort.
resources go to …. critical path type scenarios.
good old days the local Guthega crew would have just done what needed to be done amongst themselves.
@dawooduck be more qualified to comment on Mr Spannering, Karl, Winterstick and the others strategies back in those days.

FWIW Perisher can and do open Guthega when the links are not operative. In fact they did this on the Queens birthday weekend, where they ran the blue calf t-bar and opened the burning log. The carpark double did not run, but they did this to provide a service to the lodges.

I don’t buy a conspiracy theory about this. If it was all practical to do this, they will do it for the school holidays. They are desperate to try and spread people out. However, I doubt there is enough snow on the ground currently

I don't get why they don't want to open more options. Hold on ....... economics?
Peeps could turn right and choose Guthega for a day compared to Smiggs during the school hols.
Why does Guthega have to be snow connected to Blue Cow to operate?
Bottom of Blue calf T is the basically the same alt as Smiggs base and top of Blue Cow T is higher than Smiggs.
Silly management ..... can't see the gold. IMO

Hmmm might hold on in Radelaide until the apples are pruned before going over to Jindy.

Apples are getting later & later for pruning each year I reckon.

I'm one of those lodge people at Guthega and it seems Perisher do their best to give us access even operating the Car Park chair and Blue Cow T for an hour in the mornings in spring when Guthega closes (often because its too quiet) to get us across to Blue Cow. I've got to say the reason they don;t bring more people across is because the runs are harder and the car parking is already stretched as its is.In the last few years I have noticed more and more back country skiiers basing out of Guthega too!

Yeah its interesting to me that they have groomed the (non snowmade area) at the end of the run back from Guthega. The cross country kids were training on it this am, clearly visible on the cams

Nice pick #Rocketboy. I'm happy to get 45min before the crowds go ballistic. Ladt year it was circa 2.5 hrs. Tyranny of people divided by runs open as you forecast.
