Sydney summers are a breeze compared to Japan. (Tokyo, Osaka....)
Usually in Tokyo in August, every day is between 29-36 degrees(average is usually around 32-33 degrees), every night is a min of 24-26 (so most of the night is around 27-28). Humidity in the mornings is around 75-80% on a clear day, decreasing to 55-65%.

Sydney has an average February max of around 27 degrees (26.9 iirc)

I know what Japan summers are like & that's one reason why I don't visit Japan during that time.
I am one who hates the humidity... give me 30 degrees with no humidity any day...

In a normal winter, they'd spend half the day digging the blardy things out

I'd prefer 40 degrees in Melbourne (dry heat) to 33 degrees in Tokyo every time.

Agree, 40 degrees in Marrakech(a tourist favorite city in Morocco) was better than Tokyo's August because it's very dry in Morocco. Well, Tokyo's August is a lot better than some other countries / cities, though. For example, Dubai, when I was there, the weather was like about 50 degrees and 90% humidity.

What makes Tokyo's August worse is, 1 = urban heat island effect caused by the very high population density. 2 = Tokyo is quite humid in August, which makes us feel hotter than actual temperature. 3 = The uniform culture. Even when it is 35 degrees and 85% of humidity, many people wear uniforms of thick long sleeves (and ties for men).

As to sunshine (UV-rays), it's not severe in Tokyo (and Japan in general), compared to other hot climate countries, though.

It's snowing more aggressively than I have ever seen before, with very minimal wind. Just a huge amount of big dry flakes falling at a rediculous rate

Sweet morning here in Hakuba. Quiet here too. I reckon the slow start to the season held off people from booking in March.

Depends where. In the SE (Niseko etc), a bit of rain, followed by a bit of snow, followed by some calm, maybe sunny periods. IMO.

I can report that the new Qantas A330's ex Brisbane to Tokyo are very good.
The $849 was very well spent.

I would have to say that the trees did look a lot happier this season, confused but happy. Buds appearing during mid season, very strange.

More an observation than a prediction, but I had the following max's in my area (according to car thermometer) on one weekend (the first weekend):
    Friday - 0C
    Saturday - 19C
    Sunday - -2C

No wonder the trees are confused.

It's without a doubt the most depressing thing about snow.
