Anyone care to take a punt at what the 20th onwards could look like for central Honshu?
Sorry I tried
Yeah I went to spag - blown away
Snowing heavily all day today at hakuba.about 20+cm today.
Nice freshies at last.
I'd check the wind direction....................................................
Red snow warning out for Nagano
IMO some areas will see 10cm an hour this evening
*and they won't be typical
snow in weird places...
Build the wall!! Winter is already here!!
So skied Kashimayari today and was bearing snowing and vis for miles.
Got bored went to Goryu and it was puking. Car had 10cm when we got back.
Home at 1630 and out for dinner at 1830 and 10cm on car already.
As we drove around was getting heavier by the minute.
Now back home and our roof is shedding some serious snow! Car is reverse parked at the top of a slight incline so I can hopefully drive out forwards tomorrow down hill.
The EPS mean doesn't mind 21-23 for some moderate snowfall.
Looks messy but I guess that’s long range models
The Hakuba gauge is recording snow ......
the Cortina one isn't
At the moment
look at the radar........................
Heh heh.... And 1000+ other Aussies
Snowing heavily at Akakura Onsen.Off to Sugi in the morning.
Some very sweet tree runs at Sugi....enjoy will be potentially the day of the season.......
Sekiyama station almost +50cm and still going strong. Will be DEEP in Myoko tomorrow.
Yep I’d suggest take your shovel if your expecting to use the lift at Seki in the morning lol.
Too much snow IMO
good luck on that... if the wheels start skidding, aim for the nearest snowbank
Blasphemy!!!! People use to get burnt at the stake for saying less!!!....but yes there comes a point in time when it’s just crazy deep and dangerous! Great to build that BC base though!
Buries lifts and lift infrastructure
and roads and all that jazz
+30 cm over night is very good enough. Sekiyama's weather station shows + 66cm over night. 66cm at a weather station, then it can be +90cm or on upper mountain?. Then, it might be a bit too much. I mean, last year Urabandai region = Fukushima had 70cm snow over night, roads to ski resorts became chaotic, and some lifts were not running till noon to clear snow
Go you good thing! Hakuba from Sunday...
About half a metre of fresh overnight here at Hakuba and still snowing.
Kids of to Cortina with coach .All taxis and bus fully booked so adults will do Happo.
Cortina is closed
Snowing a little in Kyoto this morning, although nothing settling.

20-25 on the car in Iimori. We no longer have 3 steps at the front door and not sure where the porch starts and finishes.
Check which lifts are open (i posted above)
Puking down in Shiga Yakebitaiyama
The three beginner lifts
if Lift #3 is closed. Its buried or very very unstable.
@Nozawaman is reporting 100cm overnight.
The hills around Kyoto are white this morning but nothing settled in Kyoto city.
I can confirm heavy snow overnight in Shiga Kogen. We observed hapless individuals digging cars out at breakfast time. Easing now?
92 cm reported at Myoko!
Did I say easing snow? Very heavy snow in Shiga; currently trying to drive out in our taxi
knee deep on piste.
Chalet Shiga if I’m correct?
So Hokkaido not in the picture here?
Just remember, Sugi does best on WNW and NW winds, while around the Akakura side, it doesn't do as well. (I've read the conditions at least 3-4 times, where there's been 10cm at the bottom of Akakura, but 40cm at Sugi). If it's snowing heavily at Akakura, it's more likely a N or NNW wind, which doesn't favour Sugi.
24cm in the valley weather station at Hakuba, means very good falls on the resorts.
ski resorts are reporting:
Hakuba Cortina: 50cm (base); 50+cm (top)
Hakuba Happo-one: 30cm (top of Riesen quad)
Hakuba 47: 30-35cm
Hakuba Goryu: 15-20cm
Tsugaike: they don't give out numbers, but they are adding 50cm to the snow depth of top areas
there was 20cm added on the rail at Goryu this morning.
Undercooked reports IMO
20cm At Niseko, 92cm at Myoko, hmm nope not today it ain’t
