.....the inability to stay focused on anything but trip planning, whilst at work.
    Bittersweet :D:cry:

I am piecing together my itinerary for a February Japow trip. It doesn't help when I pop into the Japan threads I get another tidbit that needs further "research".

Anyone else having a similar dilemma?

Worse... flights booked 4th Feb - 29th March, planning well underway. Then double achilles rupture. At least you're going  (sorry, I'm having a sook!)

Oh no. I feel for you.
Something similar happened to me this year. My southern 2017 season was interrupted before it even got underway, with a compressed T12 nerve. Surgery required. All that after season rental lease signed, etc, etc.
How did you double rupture achilles??

Enjoy your Northern trip, at least I had a great local season - 33days including some absolute crackers.
Damage done in Slalom Gully, spun around facing uphill, skis crossed, fell forward bindings didn’t release ( not really meant to in that plane!) slow fall into an extreme ‘downward dog’ yoga pose . Symmetrical ruptures.

No, my planning for Japan is mostly done, surprisingly early this year, but it helps that I've done a few in that region, so it's pretty easy.

Have enough to do at work but still manage to drop in here occasionally to see what others are up to.

This will be japow trip number 11, since 2004
Looking to explore different locales. And try to avoid areas that set off the gaijin-o-meter!

Train tickets are very easy to get on arrival, but there are often some very good deals online.
    https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
    http://www.oebb.at/en/

Also checkout Flixbus (German based) who do some very cheap fares, which is why you now often see more competitive train fares.
    https://www.flixbus.com/

Both also have smartphone apps available, so very easy. Do it on the fly when you know your times.

Just booked a little 3 bedroom house in Otaru Japan for the family, so that's all the accommodation organised. Car rental and season passes left to do.

Otaru is an excellent base IMHO. How long you there for? And where do you plan to ski?
