Looks like it might get a little heavy around Picton area. Some flooding later this arvo perhaps.
AXS and BSCH agree.
Not going to be good on the roads.....
The cracks in the clay around that way would need to swell first.
Some useful rain this morning in the ACT. Only because topped up the pool yesterday though
Decent drop... (over 2 hours)
Getting nothing here on the western side of the hills and doesn't even look like it. A cracking day actually.
The fire is lit in Jindy. Yesterday was in the 30's, humid and windy as, today wet, overcast, windy as (from the other direction) and around 11.
raining proper now in the BMs
Newy is still dry.
Charlotte Pass sitting on 7C with 5mm so far.
Certainly feeling cool thanks to the cloud cover in NSW. A lot of mizzle & drizzle here in the Sydney Basin, nothing heavy though. Sydney will be lucky to make it to 22C IMO.
Not a bad little system for summer (so much for it being "fake weather news/spam"!).
Atrocious on the roads. Phuck some people really wanna die and take a few others with them I swear....
Drive in to the grounds and they call it off..... deep breath.
I make a few polite comments about the availability of free access to the radar ( which i sent to coach at 7.30 ) and a forecast , bite my tongue suck it up get back in the car and drive home. Made a day of it stopped in at Gerringong check out some boards and hit the bakery.
Listen to some good music too .
The gurl got good taste for a 17 yo.
Joys of sport and weather .
Yeah we went out for lunch.. Mums B-Day and our wedding anniversary . What a day for it.
Absolutely agree re roads. No wonder the Hume is shut due to a huge mva.
Yup, about 15 mm this arvo.
Got soaked leaving The Flicks.
A lot of water on the road , washing across and few times little rivers on the passenger side line would just hang on to the wheels .
Very much a day for steady as she goes no matter what you driving.
Other no brainer is the amount of numb nuts driving with out lights .
Time to settle in on couch watch the ice hockey.
It's starting to look a bit like a wet season. Moving south east and about to get hammered.
Was up at Charlottes this morning. More like late Autumn. Very low visibility and not a good day for hiking, albeit about 20 cars at the circle.
Finaly getting some rain in Newy. Drive to Canberra will be fun.
The 3 blind mice system still flirting with Tassie.
GFS Deterministic going bold (surprise, surprise) in the LR with a cold outbreak over the SE. Doesn't correlate with much on the ensembles but it's worth keeping an eye on in the second week of March. Interestingly, it coincides somewhat with out next MJO visit.
Well you know the old adage.....if you need rain.............wash a car, so I did and.........
Need to wash another car , its going to miss us to the south , damn.
87mm in the backyard Accurite .
33 by the BOM aws.
Peaks a bit early and leaves Tassie with a deteriorating cut off low. I think the good stuff is gonna be to the West of Tas, in the bight.
I could have told you that.
Bellambi 1.8 mm
My pool is about to overflow
Very cold on the north shore (west pymble) weather station showing 24.1mm of rain in a 24 hour period. Temp is about 16C. Very nice feels like winter

@POW_hungry YR saying snow on mt kozi? your the expert , thoughts on this?
Yes, EC shows snow to possibly ~1700m from very early tomorrow morning to about midday. Chances get worser as the day progresses, precip wise.
GFS says a flat no.
ACCESS says a chance of sleet/wet snow to 2000-2100m around 6-9am tomorrow.
Would be cool to see some snow on the Mainland for the first time this year.
Possible, perhaps right up at the top. Touch and go.
ha, thanks mate.
Slim chance on the summit TBH. Planning a midnight hike?
GFS has a small window around 1am where it's cold enough. Just.
If it does, it won't hang around till morning.
Ah ok... didn't see that on the GFS charts I have.
I don't see EC going to 1700m tomorrow at all. EC suggests +6C @850mb at best early tomorrow AM.
The chart I have shows FLs at around ~1800-1900m at 5am tomorrow.
It's already happened on the 14th JAN, HERE
Haha, I completely forgot about that
Interesting to see Charlottes Pass reached it's diurnal maximum temp (16C) @ 3 mins past midnight this morning and hit it's 7C low mid-arvo today. That doesn't happen too often in the mountains.
*not a calibrated BoM AWS
Sydney olympic park 79.4 mm - biggest fall since 8th June 2017 - more rain in one day then the last 2.5 months
Terrey hills 75.4mm + more to come before 9am - biggest fall in over 12 months
Finally some great constant soaking rain. 50mm in the Lower BM's / Penrith so far. Stark contrast to the 40c we had on Saturday!
Rockingham region, south of Perth looks like it may have been hit by the remnants of a supercell yesterday despite marginal conditions for such a storm (IMO). 130km/h winds were recorded off the coast (Garden Island) before it moved onshore.
Looks like it caught BoM off guard also.
Moonbah (at least where I am) managed 25mm over the past 36 hours. Surpasses the 20mm total since Jan 1st! Dust is turning green already.
Still raining near Sydney Airport. I think that's just about 24 hours of consistent rain.
Photos of the southerly change that past over Saturday afternoon.
Location - Aragunnu Beach (South Coast NSW).
GFS staying with a nasty looking cut off system around the 10th for the SE on the 00z run. Kinda baseless as the ensembles dont show much agreement but it looks significant if the determenistics are anything to go by.
Remarkable radar images over Sydney right now
yep ...movement all ways...
A possible contibuting factor-
