Nice easy to navigate web site as well IMO

Thanks Conners. We went with a simple web company that deals with holiday houses and has an inbuilt booking engine. Will get more updated and finished photos in the coming months (including interior pics!).
Now to link it to AirBnB etc...

Thought about having a car as part of the accommodation? Like Hurry slowly does.

For now, just managing the build, bookings and the like are enough!
The shuttle stop is so close, you can get to the slopes and around the village no worries (which for most, is enough)

Do you find that shuttle gets really crowded?

on a scale of jackson tram to tokyo subway; how crowded? LOL
Because it is towards the end of the shuttle run, we found staying in that area you were better off walking slightly back down the shuttle route as it would fill up before it got to our stop.

Soaking tub looks magic!!!

I love a good soak after boarding but often the baths are not really big enough to really submerge. Onsen is the obvious suggestion but the darn thing gives me migraines.... So regular water is the go for me.

Have you looked at heating the roof? Only needs to be 2 degrees, turn on when snow builds up, snow melts, water runs away, turn off.

Cheers ..
Looked at it, but our arrangement works for us in terms of simplicity and management.

Max = 6 people?. If I go with my family and my partner's family, it can be 8. I think my brother can sleep in the living room or wherever in Owl House, not in the bed rooms:p.

We are waiting on a folding bunk to be delivered/installed which will take the max occupancy to 8 people. It may arrive mid season, so for now, it is 6 people.

Yokohama, Japan, Melb. Expat.
So a quick trip to Niseko last week was taken to sign off on the final stages of the build and just check things out. These pics are already a week old but things are taking shape inside the house. It just started to snow on the last day which was nice to see.

Still downloading a bunch of photos, but will post some more detailed updates in the coming week as rooms are completed.
Those bottom floor windows will be 1m under the snow!!! ;)

Depends what you want to stay in.
Private house or shared lodge or somewhere in between.
There are options for all budgets.

Nice.

Did you contract the builder directly or did you do it through Simon Robinson or similar?

And depends where in Japan you are going. Ironically private, self contained accommodation with a lower service level is often more expensive in Japan because it is not that common. It is hard to find away from Niseko and Hakuba because it is not what the Japanese have traditionally wanted. They tend to go skiing for just weekends and want hotels or pensions.

Yeah but there are 24 or so public holidays. I think we get 14 so overall it is the same number of days at work each year.

There are 16 public holidays in Japan next year.

I think we get 12. The people I was talking to must get extra because we worked out they get 10 more than us so we have the same number of working days each year.
But there are also no sick leave days in Japan, so people usually take annual leave. Sick leave in Australia is, what, 5-7 days?
