Here is a recently archived VHS from my old snowboard VHS collection. As the title suggests it's about a group of mates (The Extreme Wizards of Oz) on a quest to find the elusive Opera House Hut. This film was produced in the days way before Google maps & Google itself was not very well known in 2000. Years before YouTube existed this VHS was in my collection that sat in the garage for 15 to 20 years before I recently discovered it again. If you are into a bit of nostalgia I hope you enjoy this film from Dave Klaiber & Dean Hollander.
Thanks for sharing, great stuff! They (you??) just capture the spirit of aussie backcountry perfectly. If any of the lads in that film lurk in here, I salute you!
@Hanz Onyawaif I just have to admit i never really paid enough attention to you forum name until about a month ago. Now it is my favourite.
Not me, I had a box of snowboard VHS films that sat in my garage for 15 years that I have recently started uploading to YouTube. I also would love to know if anyone on here knows any of these people. I tried to contact Dave Klaiber on Facebook and found we had 5 mutual friends including my old flatmate. He didn't reply however it seems he hadn't been on Facebook for a few years. I just like archiving this sort of material as its seems better to be viewed than still sitting in my garage.
Thanks! Hanz is a character that was created between me & some mates about 15 years ago after getting our boards waxed at Berridale by a guy called Hanz. Hanz (the character) is a former Austrian fashion model that is now a ski instructor that is way better looking than you, can ski faster than you and is taking you wife for a private lesson in the morning. He looks like Fabio if you know who that is.
Nostalgic. Reminders of my one and only visit in early summer. Around the Watsons Crag track from the aqueduct tunnel a few years before this was produced. Wouldn't go down the ridge they were going down.
Maybe, I don't watch much TV, maybe in a pub in Jindy that had SMTV on. @Telemark Phat is this film in your collection?
If you are enjoying the nostalgia please check out my YouTube channel with the rest of the VHS collection. It's called Snowboard VHS archive on YouTube. I have 10 episodes of The Snow Show Australia 2005, the Perisher Wild Winter Weekend 2005 & Planet X Winter games at Perisher 2001. There is also a playlist of Aussie & NZ videos in addition to all the US videos. I have many more titles that are waiting to be uploaded now that I finally have NBN. As I said before my main purpose is to archive material that will be lost forever and get it viewed by people that will enjoy it too. I hope it brings back memories for you like it does for me.
sounds disturbingly like our club captain. "ish" perhaps just his ego / persona applies. many here may know him around Guthega Village and beyond
Ah Cheers! Great Craic! I was working at Wilderness Sports with Luke Hicks (who was the star of this EXCELLENT ski retrieval scene) in the late 90's. Great guy, pretty loose
