-0 up top at Thredbo this morning. Slight amount of moisture still left according to the gauge. Were there any flurries up higher on this cold change?

Mid North Coast has been damp, cool and blardy windy. Hasn't stopped blowing here, low to mid 20's.

    Not even beach weather.

Victoria would be warmer and better

when are we expecting temps above 40degC again in most of VIC.....what are the models predicting.......the State Wide TFB's of previous weekend sent temps soaring thro most of the state........any predictions of when next heat event is coming.....3days in a row will cause grief ...we are dodging bullets at the moment with cold fronts/and rain coming in to break up the heat waves and to slow down two major Vic Fires...LOL

Nice drop of rain in NE late on Saturday early morning.....:)

GFS suggesting high chance of storms over most of Victoria from the 2nd (perhaps even from the 1st) through the 5th.

Ran into flash flooding on Hume Freeway last night about 9pm around Longwood.....lots of water on Hume but only blocking single lane generally and at most six inches deep...must have been a super cell that came thro cars pulled to side of road all over the shop.....Bears were a bit apprehensive as we descended into each gulley but accelerated on the uphill sections..
makes driving a whole new experience...thank god its not the usual pattern for returning home......:p:p:p

Hopefully these downpours will spare the Great Ocean RD.... otherwise debri is ganna be everywhere....

Flash flooding around Seymour claimed a life of a driver who tried to cross a flooded river. Why do people do this?

Why do people leave kids in cars on hot days? Why do people shower with toasters? Why does my chainsaw have a warning on it not to use on your genitals? Because people are proper deadshits idiots, that's why.

I've just read the story this morning. Received a txt from my mum.
That bridge is a notorious spot - it's about 400 metres from my folks' house as the crow flies. Said the police chopper woke them up around 2am.
We know who the deceased is. Really nice guy. I played junior footy with his son.
It's not the place to try your luck with floodwaters.
They had 38mm at their place, but Whiteheads Creek gauge had 49mm.

The creek itself is bloody narrow there. The road goes to single lane as it dips very low over the creek.
I'm not sure how any local would think they could get through, to be honest.
It's not like it's the only way to access delatite road there

we saw one truck with flashing sign to indicate water over road otherwise we may have hit it at high speed!!!

why doesnot the Hume Highway have permanent overhead warning signs especially at the frequently flooded areas......a sign near Eurora would have prepared drivers for conditions ahead...it was all of a sudden without much warning and we had radio off....not much lightening or heavy rain as we came flying along then some distant flashing sign ...and only one truck with warning sign at first dangerous spot..:mad:.after that we slowed down big time with due caution cos its hard in the dark
    to see very far ahead...:(

Looking out the window now at the Pacific you'd think it was a fully formed ECL in progress. But according to the 4 dayer at BOM - it will barely form into a proper low pressure system on Wednesday.

With the rain and sunshine to come it will be fluro green by Saturday in the lower Illawarra. Happy cows to the horizon. And all up another mild summer so far - which would well make it three in a row for NSW south coast if this continues over Jan and Feb.

South of the divide is pretty dry at the moment, but looks like the East of the state is going OK at the moment, for this time of year.

Kinda looks like one has developed off NSW north coast. Not overly deep, but broad and sucking in plenty of moisture from the Pacific.

Was quite warm and tropical the other night but has since reverted to cold and wet.
