I don't think the totals will be that huge.
storming again in the gong
Agree, but it sure beats being in western Victoria.
Yep, as predicted.
They are saying 45 here tomorrow now
Seriously cutting into motorbike riding days.
Drove to Maitland today ---- stinking hot! Yuk.
41 today in Melbourne and the media go into over-reaction mode.
Don't run and don't garden . Good grief.
Idiots. Make sure you dont leave kids or animals in your car too. Sometimes I wonder when evolution stopped for humans. Sometimes I wonder how far backwards it's gone.
Not looking forward to toady.
Its going to wreck havoc on our machines.
Was a stunning morning tho, the bay was like glass.
Yeh, some ridiculous number of kids and animals have had to be rescued from hot cars already this summer.
41 in Perth, no one bats an eyelid. People garden, jog, ride bikes ...
The people who give me the biggest shits are the ones who complained in July and August it's freezing now complain it's too hot. GAGF.
They'll probably send the factory home early and cancel arvo shift at my work.
I will never understand how this could ever happen.
These are the people who spend their entire lives inside temperature controlled environments and still have a whinge because they have to spend 30 seconds going from one air-conditioned box to another.
This is worse than that.
My work is 23C/50% RH 24 hours a day. I never complain it's too cold, ever. Whether im at work, at home, anywhere. I complain when it's too hot though. You cant do both.
They should move with the rest of the whingers to Port Macquarie
I think Aussies are pretty hardy when it comes to temperatures.
Wanna hear whinging... try the British
Yeh, but they don't stop at the weather ...
heats ok but the insects go bearserk and we have to use aeroguard under extreme conditions....
Sweat and Aeroguard, always a great combination
Nah, they'd complain about the humidity up there.
And all the sharks too.
We just battle along.
Playing catch up from the busy xmas - NY and forced close down days
Same, i sit in an air conditioned box and go home to a nice cool house (sometimes airconditioned on really hot days) like all the other office workers. I don't understand how you can complain about the heat or the cold when spending such a large proportion of your time in a temperature controlled environment. I get that it makes it harder to acclimatise properly to extremes in temperature but it really only takes an hour or so outside per day to achieve this.
When I worked outside whilst I was at uni I always thought the hardest part of the day was between 8-9am just as it was beginning to warm up. That's when I would sweat the most and feel the heat. When I got through that I was fine for the rest of the day, and didnt really feel the heat.
Agree, whilst i hate the extreme heat like today and dont look forward to it at all, I never complain as its part of our climate.
On the other hand, I love the extreme cold and look forward to those days. That said we don't actually get extreme cold here in Melb.
Yeah that low morning sun combined with the early morning humidity can really pack a punch.
My wedding day nov 14 about 5 years ago or something was 49 degrees according to the wedding car.
Standing in a suit outside on that day absolutely sucked balls.
A cool change is forecast to come through, so it's not like we've got 3 or 4 days on the trot above 35.
The only worry this arvo will be the potential for fast moving fires, both with the northerly, and then, and more worryingly, the potential for the change to turn those fires into something much worse.
no string of bad days yet this fire season ....CFA/DSE are hoping it stays that way....
breezy out side here in Caroline Springs which will be present challenges should anything run for more than 10mins without a response..
Heatwave here in revelstoke Canada today.a balmy minus 1.
Same here. Its the point where the temperature hits low 30's with RH around 50%.
The body adjusts quickly - if you let it adjust. Most of the whingers never give the body a chance to adjust. That said, i've got both my swampies going today.
Lawn was browning off all over the show just now so have been out doing some spot watering.
Other than one day in early Dec - we have not had a day time max temp over 27 in Kiama area since the November heatwave when we got to 40C one day. (which was not a record. 41.5C in 1982 was the Kiama BOM record for Nov) . Might hit 30+ tomorrow - but only for a few hours before the cool change hits.
OMFG, you will need to see your therapist!
You missed the "was". I've got it sorted after therapist indicated that the problem could be solved by applying more water.
Left work early, wound the windows down and enjoyed the 40-41 deg on the drive home. Certainly cleaned out the pores!
Pretty windy on the change, took beach road home from Chelt to Elwood tonight.
Lots of people leaving the beach in the wind and rain with towels and bags and everything blowing everywhere.
Its funny how some people can't read the weather and whats coming, it would have been pretty clear over the bay what was about to hit, but people just sit there and wait till shit goes everywhere to realise they need to leave.
Proper windy for the ride home. Don't envy those that had to go the other way.
STW for Melbourne. Don't reckon we'll get much rain out of it though.
Got home about 5:40 to witness a multitude of peeps swimming in my pool - temp still hovering around 40
6:15 and wind gusted, spots of rain fell, distant thunder - hasn't cooled a hell of a lot but enough
Yep, still low to mid 30s around most of melbourne.

Spirit of Tasmania appears to have broken its mooring & is drifting towards the beach
Just saw on the news. Apparently the ropes snapped.
They would be big ass ropes.
Gobsmacking stupidity. 8 kids in locked cars that had to be rescued today they said on the news, right before the dust storm hit and power went out. Tree debris still flying around everywhere but just starting to ease a little now, after a half hour of crazy gales.
You just going off AWS recording. ?
Not trolling , srsly interested.
Im hour or so South and we've had plenty of mid thirties.
Fwiw I look at official temp and add 6-8 degs verify in back yard thermometer.
