Firming up on GFS & EC as a NE Vic & east Gippsland event for the weekend. Some big totals to be had.

The amount we get in Melbourne still up for debate. EC would have less than 10mm, but GFS and BOM are showing more.

Looks to be going further east every day, from Melbourne at least. Still like I said a chance of 20-120mm depending on where you are and how lucky you are. At least the highest totals wont be centered around N NSW and SE QLD this time.

As I type belting rain from a shower in the SE subs, looks a bit wintery out there.

Interesting - fine and warm in the inner east, almost beach weather here in St Kilda!

Yeah not here, weather forecast this morning said mostly sunny, I reckon I saw the sun for about 10mins this morning before the cloud rolled in. Not drizzle showers either, proper big rain drops.

Good chance the fishing comp will be cancelled now, it looks pretty set in stone. I am seeing 5 days of trough action and decent rainfall amounts daily from Friday onwards on GFS.

Was planning at heading out Sunday, but I'll get some brownie points up because of the weather and look to the following weekend.

Sounds like a plan. If we get out we will be tucked up behind French Island on a gummy hunt. Then back to whiting the following weekend. If it's going to be shoddy weather I will can it because I can take some rain but this is a 30min full tilt run and without full clears it's not nice.

Models have pretty much settled on this one. The sweet spot seems to be east Gippsland and NSW south of Canberra and west to Wagga Wagga. Looks like falls of 100mm+ are likely in this region.
I think we'll get 10-20mm in Melbourne, more in the east.

No way, a system like that wouldn't give us snow in the middle of winter.

All models have back away from the totals they had been forecasting over the last few days, now it looks like 20-30mm is going to be the max seen (except for isolated heavier falls). It starts today apparently but I can only see the possibility of a few small storms this afternoon, for my liking tomorrow will be the first day of afternoon/evening showers.

Some cooking happening this morning in Melbourne. Started off cool but now the temperature is moving up, light wind, not a cloud in the sky, and a few stars showing up on the satelite. Could be something this afternoon after all.

EC still showing 20mm+ for Melbourne, mostly on Saturday.
Still looks very wet in the east of Victoria & NSW Alps.

Just starting to spit here in Jindy and by the looks of the radar a bit more to come with some possible storm action this afternoon. I noticed an article on Weatherzone with a flood watch for the Queenbeyan valley.

Me thinks cricket may not be on this weekend [IMG]

SW wind in Melbourne, it looks like it's a bit too far East for us here today.

Not too far from here. Lightning overhead and it is coming down at about 10-20mm an hour rate as I type.

Bulk falls in NSW that's for sure, but luckily not as much or as heavy in VIC, save for Lang Lang which got 55mm out of a supercell.

Today is the day for Melbourne and surrounds, although the charts are showing it might be a bit far south. This morning it is much warmer than yesterday, light cloud cover and almost no wind to speak of. I like.

10-15kts up my end of the bay tomorrow (from a proper forecaster, not my own forecasts) means we should be good to launch. North Arm could be interesting on the way back in.

Just drove through an intense cell over Berridale. Marble size hail, very heavy rain, lots of lightning. Very small though, it pretty much just covered Berridale side to side. A couple of km either side of town there was no rain

IMO we're in for an unsettled week.
9am GFS suggests moderate falls from Gippsland through to mid / coastal NSW

Stormcasts shows the possibility of storms pretty much most afternoons this week. This afternoon and Friday look most active, but the other afternoons are a reasonable chance too. Melbourne on the edge of it, might miss out.
