yeh. Yesterday was a bit like this too, but too overcast to allow it to brew up.
Now that it's clear you can feel that convection kicking off.
But I'd hope to see some cells out to the west in the next hour or two...

Just went for a wander outside... not as warm as it looks, and breezy, too. I'm getting a little sceptical as well.

Winds picking up here in Melbourne. That's going to work against thunderstorms.

Normally I would also agree that is the case. But only when it's windy in the morning. Remember this is not just a trough but a front in there too. I dont think the winds are going to 'disadvantage' any thunderstorm now, they will move through quicker yes but I dont think their intensity will be majorly influenced.

That line at Apollo Bay now is going to be the big initial hit on Melbz, and it looks like it will be very big when it gets here.

Yeah im out in a minute too, gonna make sure everything is tied down and there is somewhere for all this water to flow (no blocked drains/channels). That line is only the first one too, I expect more to develop behind it.

Just got warned by the college head about the storms! Windows shut, call friends to get inside were the orders. Never had that happen before.

I think this one may only just clip us. Considering its motion on the radar...

...scratch that. That cell has spread north, we are about to be wiped out.

V. dark skies looming up from the S.W, with sheet lightning behind, then hail the size of small marbles before the rain in outer S.E. Melbourne. Dramatic Spring stuff!

There was an eerie greenish tinge in the storm that rolled past before. Anyone have an idea what that's about or is it my eyes playing tricks?

We are right in the firing line, i've put up pics before it hit on FB. I'll try to put them up here unless the power goes out. Storms just keep forming overhead and smashing us. No hail yet.

Nah it's right on and as I understand it it's to do with the concentration of particles within the cell. With massive amounts of moisture you get green and blue tinges.

It looks like Mordi, and Plowking took that supercell at it's hardest. It petered out a little bit by the time it reached us. But I expect the next 2 hours to be full on.

That was from about 3 hours ago, as it crept closer. Cool picture because the smaller cloud in front is getting hit from behind by the sun.

I hope you guys can see this pics, i'm taking them off FB.

It's a pretty big sucker. Just starting to get a bit interesting here in the inner north.
