Diff this time is it hasn’t rained for a year. Back then the 300+ was on the back of a wet few months.
Scored a sneaky 4ml at Umina which is a nice ground softener in preparation for the main event tomorrow.
Central Sydney AWS just picked up 28mm in 40 mins. Flash bangs and dark as buggery in the eastern burbs.
we've had another 40 since midnight down Sth co. backyard AWS tells me. rumblings and flashing all night, continues just now. steady precip since about 2 or so. Sydney and Cenco looking good on the radar.
...and another 18mm in the last 19 mins just now for Central Sydney AWS. That’s 55mm since 5:30am now TS cell is now over the Eastern Burbs firing away.
Chucking it down now in Caringbah and getting heavier. Flash bang as well, but not much at this stage. Commute into the City is going to be interesting this morning.
Between 6am and 7:01am Sydney’s gauge went from 9mm to 84mm!! Of the 75mm that fell in the hour, most came in the back half. Hopefully more to come (except now my roof is leaking).
I had a 10 minute walk to summer hill station and my pants are soaked to the bone. A wetsuit is more appropriate attire this morning
we have four buildings in our complex, the other 3 have gutter guards ours does not. quote to do ours was astronomical. May get done now... run off from this event has cause flooding in our entry foyer.
...Some 40mm in ~20-30mins for Sydney's Observatory Hill. Lightening Tracker is going berzerk. Sydney centro under attack:
Just drove into Sydney CBD from north western suburbs. Fark That was heavy rain. I could only drive at 40-50kmh maximum, with windscreen wipers struggling to cope. Lots of standing water and torrents of water flowing across the road. Diabolical conditions
On the ferry .... still some empty seats. I am glad I moved a few things off the deck because the rain must have been horizontal. The bloody wind blew down a 30yr old Banksia, one of two in our native garden part of the garden so I guess a garden Reno is now in order. The birds love those trees The fallen tree mashed a couple of flowering jelly bush as well. The power is out
Nothing much happening in Melb. Mins not below ten max ing out around low 20,s Not much rain forecast....so tradies are having fun outdoors! A little breeze....non threatening cumulus clouds...little bit of blue sky. Saturday’s temp climbing to 30degC some change comming there after.
More importantly ...what is the weather outlook up near Cairns... Authorities are indicating the dry storms will become a feature.... Fire authorities are apprehensive about fire storms raging that will not be contained fir many days. Those max temps are breaking records .......and bats are dropping from their perches!!
Made it in no dramas, but pi55ing it down! Town Hall station flooded in areas, some platforms closed. A good day for finding holes in your shoes!
75mm since midnight and no let up. In our favour tho it's been steady. Sydney on the other hand..... not so good.
Spinning a treat overhead in Dubbo at present. SOme good storm last night but sun has been out. Wondering if the wrap around is going to get us again shortly. Trying to decide if i should go and do a few hours outside.
55ml so far at Umina since 4am. Rain has lightened up for now but the wind is picking up. Should get heavier again later once the rotation starts pushing in from the South East.
Wettest November day in 34 years. "That makes it the wettest November day since 1984 and also the wettest day since April 22, 2015. The intensity of that rainfall was phenomenal. 91mm fell in 90 minutes, that's basically the equivalent of a one in 100 year event."
