Reckon @Vermillion s big rain event is a probability next weekend.
EC is showing interest in Friday week.
Couple of small cells appearing in South Gippsland now. Doesn't feel anywhere near warm enough in Melbourne though.
Can't see it happening here.
That's the one
Do not like - annual street party Sat night.
In 12 years we have never had rain....it's been chilly......it's been HOT........but never rain
Wouldn't get too stressed yet. Not much agreement in models. GFS has the system sliding south.
Well it's a lock then
GFS at distance generally =opposite.
You think its humid in Melbourne. ..
f..k me. Am home.
I'm not even gonna say something should I give it the kiss of death. But let's just say I felt some vibe.
Gfs looks interesting.
Axs looks benign
EC looks realistic
That'll put the mozz on it.
And all of them are too far out in any case.
Chances are that one is right
The leaves have just started to change to their autumnal colours
Few cells popping up over Melbourne.
Just heard a nice rumble.
Trying to get work done in the shed and it's frigging uncomfortable, wouldn't mind a nice downpour.
Well here we go. A little unexpected but looking at the soundings and the heating that occurred today i'm not entirely surprised.
Looks like it'll all be north of me so I might sit on my deck and watch the show.
And just some light reading from one of my forecaster mates from the BoM (who just happens to live in Pakenham - Shameless plug follow his FB page Pakenham Weather), explaining the fog we had the other day:
It was a foggy start to the day in #Pakenham which is relatively rare during summer. Wonder what caused it?
Yesterday morning's rainfall increased moisture while a ridge of high pressure quickly moved over the area resulting in a cloud free night and light winds. This in turn allowed the near ground humid airmass to cool to what is called the 'dewpoint temperature'; the temperature at which the air needs to cool to condense and form cloud, resulting in fog.
Image: Satellite image of fog over Pakenham at 9:30am this morning.
pakenham has got pretty big in that sat pic.... I was in werribbee South at 9am yesterday and it was foggy there too
my kids fete would really like it not to rain next friday.....its the only decent fundraiser we have for the school
No worries mate i'll be sure to let the weather know next time I speak to it.
Be sure to mention the fact we're all a bit pissed that our WC match didn't go ahead either.
Anyway, was shocked to read on the BOM that one of these tiny little cells that popped up around Melbourne today dropped 22mm at North Wharf (Docklands). Intense little thing
Well that was a warmer night than expected.
Could be another warm night tonight as well.
Chance we'll see some storms this afternoon.
STW for Melbourne. Small cell on the western part of the bay.
Similar to yesterday - small, isolated cells. Just looking now, there's a lot of cumulus building over the Dandenongs and out the Yarra Valley way. Looks like it's building
Could cause some grief for the cricket.
Popping up everywhere
Not looking for the walk to the car after the BB.
Over moorabbin building as we speak
Your storms are pretty wussy.. should be ok
Indeed. Is gone.
Trough lines looks over cape otway imo
Avalon has already picked up a sneaky 5mm, Laverton 4. Temps have dropped to mid 20's while in town it's still 35C
that thing just to the west of the bay was chucking out some good lightning as I was driving home. Had Metallica playing so the thunder was for whom the bells toll, but I think i heard some distant rumbles.
Not moving at all, but would be interesting to see what the warm bay does to it if it decides to move east.
About 37 here. Looking good to the east....
and to the west
I'm out at the office and those towers looked speccy heading east and seeing them over Mt Dandenong and off over the valley.
Nice towers... just lack mid level steering off those pics... they will pop and die me thinks
Pretty putrid out there. 34 and 40% humidity.
Oh only 40 % lol
Air just got a tad cooler here in Aspendale, SE Melbs
Not blowing much so will take a while to cool things down
Hard to tell if it will rain here by looking at the sky - looks menacing though
if it goes up a tad more I'm expecting the evap cooler to create rain inside!
Looking at radar just now.. mega activity out near Warragul and to the north
yes big black bits in warragul radar
