The long range forecast looks rather dismal I must say.....probably a good thing for me as I doubt I'll have many further opportunities over the coming weeks!

Yep, I'm locked into the coast this weekend for house sitting duties. At least I'll be able to sensibly manage my elbow tear and maybe get in a fish. Good pulse mid next week and then nothing showing beyond other than the odd flukey south pulse.

Nice glassy conditions this morning, couple of feet on the open beach.
Will be interesting to get young blokes report tonight from Sumatra.
Should be about 8ft bigger than what I surfed today. LOL
@nfip ..... did you check the garage to see if the new board is still there today?
It may have taken a flight to Indo?

Aaaah it mysteriously appeared back on the racks.
Co-inciding with the youngest member of the family and my car returing home.
Actually pretty stoked she's enjoying the cruisy soul surfing of the single fins.

Yeah, and a longer drawn out bottom turn using the extended rail creates a real solid base for all other surfing. IMO

Yes many times but never realised what was actually happening other than just the push of the swell.
also observed it when patrolling a couple of times in big swells tucked up in the corner , lifts a group of peeps up off their feet / sand bank and takes them out as it recedes to sea.

I've have mixed feelings about the foils but i see it as a new challenge and an opportunity to surf waves and days others just can't be out there, i watched a guy surfing 2ft lennox pt by himself on one of these when it was basically not even breaking and getting 500m rides just gliding along

I'm totally against them after a good mate basically killed himself after it guillotined his neck and crushed his artery. He's a very experienced surfer as well, just too many things to go wrong.

A guy at Crescent called Terry Beathe
    Surf Stick Shapes.
Her besties Dad bought it couple years ago.
The gurl rode it a few times and loved it.
They weren't riding it much to justify so being a top bloke he sold it to her ( well me ! ;)) as a favour / going to a good home.

There's a dude around here that rides a motorised/jet one in the river.
Have seen a few others occasionally in small surf on the open beach but rare.

I understand but that kind of thing can be inflicted by your surfboard wiping out in the barrel, TC claiming his gath saved his life after his board hit him behind the ear, i had a mate end up with a bunch of stitches in the neck after his board got him and i've stitches in my chin after i went over the falls and tried to body surf and the nose of the board speared me. I know someone who died up here hitting the sandbank.

I had a mate cleaned up at Dee Why point (back in the day when little bum seat wave ski kamikaze pilots used to strap themselves in for the drop). Crazy f@rkers!!!!
Mate spent a couple of weeks in hospital with serious head injuries.

Report in from Krui and it ain't that great.
Big swell too south, winds and tides not in line.
Sounds like the boys are over the fickle nature of the place and ready to move on.
Dawn patrol at Way Jambu = 8-10ft wrong direction (too south), no barrels just mush burgers.
Ujung = 6-8ft breaking too wide due to direction.
    Madiri = 10ft close outs
Krui left = 4ft everyone surfing there (40 in the lineup, no thanks)
Jimmy's right 8-10ft wrong tides for morning and then too windy on the good tide later.
Boys ended up at Jimmy's left in 8-10ft+ range for the best of the bunch but said they only got a few hours in before wind got into it.

Rode bike this morning..... Maroubra was small, no one bothered grovelling. And follow up to weekend.... stayed with friends at Gerringong..... not a bad location despite the flatness later in the weekend.

That's atrocious. Where do these low life grubs come out of the woodwork from......it's like some of the similar stories from over Summer of other grubs camping and leaving the sites with shit strewn everywhere. It's the "Don't give a F$%K" and "Someone else will clean it up" mentality these days, just woeful. And what makes it worse is often they will have kids in toe, so they will learn the error of their ways and pass it down the chain - idiots! Always seems to be around long weekends and holiday periods too....more often than not.....

    It's beyond belief really.
I mean we've all had a crap in the bush .
But never could contemplate some-ones front yard.
Mate of mine lives along the front on that strip of (lost) paradise .
edit : he would have been one of those cleaning up , along with the NPWS Rangers.
I cannot fathom the mentality of this.
This is big part of why the lakeside camping bans went down at Jindy too.
    Prime example.
Same blatant disrespect for what you actually came to enjoy in the first place.
So very sad illustration of our people.

Seriously though, and as nfip said. For those, like you, that live rural and respect the environment it is really really frustrating. And there are country folk that do the wrong thing as well I'm sure.

Cutting really deep with me this one.
Such a sacred site to me. and the traditional land owners.
I had so many , many years surfing in this pristine bay and surrounds.
Often on my own , sitting on that headland looking at the empty Bommie dreaming about surfing it.

Drawing deep breathe I think next time there is a swell event there might be a presence of rangers ( who live there & also down the road from me - good mates partner ! ) and even a visit from the men in blue.
I personally know a few cops down here and will be lobbying direct for them to show up.
    Horse has bolted this time.
One in particular his wife is one of the most active campaigners for the environment on the Coast.
Russ knows her too , so we can join the dots and will see what we can do with this one . ;)

This not just a one off tho.
It's a sad reflection of how we are treating this planet in the bigger scale of things.

    Take 3 for the Sea.
    Say no to plastic.
    Leave no trace.

Yeah, I could imagine I'd feel the same with Moggs Creek back in the day. And whilst this is my new home area I don't even know where it is but I'm guessing it is in the Murramarang Nat Park area. And without digging myself a bigger hole :) it seems to come with the scene. I dunno but I think there's something to be said for the intermediate level. Everyone is more chillaxed and respectful. Be it South Broulee or Crescent Head.

Ok yeah I know exactly where you mean now @nfip I thought it was a spot I visited when down your way in April but now realise exactly where it is & won't be broadcasting it, sounds like enough grubs already know about it! It's a place I've been a few times and it's such a nice spot, would love to rent a holiday house there for a week and hopefully luck out with some swell. There' s a few nice spots in this area and it's got that lovely isolated feel about it

I don't know, just seems to be a sad (but valid) generalisation of people simply not caring what they leave behind or that it is someone's property or "playground" they are disrespecting. Particularly over Christmas at Palm Beach we get rubbish left all over the beach and the beachside parks and other nearby grassy areas. People come to places like we play in largely for the beauty of the environment then trash it in the ways we have described in these posts; what do they expect it to be like next time they turn up and why should the locals and the council have to clean up after them?

Admittedly often at the Northern Beaches Secret Spot it is a "better class of rubbish" (French champagne bottles, etc) than some other beaches might suffer from, but sadly it is all very often left quite close to the bins - which to give the council due credit are plentiful, large, visible, and emptied regularly even over the holiday periods.

It won't surprise regulars in this thread at all, but that morning we turned up for our early last week and saw the bogged 4WD truck on the beach that I posted the photo of there was also a fair amount of "beachside party rubbish" dumped on the grass at the top of the beach not far from the stuck vehicle _and_ within 5m of a set of bins. We did a quick cleanup of it, took the photo I posted of the stuck vehicle, decided the two things were linked and then left the vehicle owners to sort out their self-inflicted predicament. Karma.
