@Nozawaman When you in Sincity next? Another night on the tiles? Also may need some R n R in Japan if you can fit me in
Here he is. Amazing pics nearly every day from down this way. https://www.facebook.com/joshburkinshawimages/
Check the Vic and SA swellnet reports, would be a good day to visit the bro, unfortunately it's 1100km away.
Doing a mid Feb trip to there abouts , if you keen jump aboard or we'll catch up..... With our Wog mate and another style master. Back , slack and side country. With a van.
Very much better at the Northern Beaches Secret Spot early this morning. Smaller swell and more water over the banks made a big difference. I had an hour off North Palm Beach car park and got 15 good and long ones. Would have liked a longer session but had to get home for the Saturday morning soccer run. Saw a coupe of whales too while drying off in the car park. I looked briefly at Newport about 8:30am but it didn't seem to be getting the swell at all; only a couple out and the swell wasn't lining up into there. One of my friends (who incidentally just found out she needs a hip replacement - I told her how well @Drewboy had recovered for surfing and skiing) snapped her leg rope but more from bad luck than humongous waves. It was only a couple of feet, maybe 3' on the big sets, but good energy in it and nice long walls, even when it was a bit fat right on the high tide.
Yesterday was an interesting day down here on the south coast. Lots of crew checking the surf and a few chargers heading out. Its hard to put a size on it but id say 8' on the sets.. plenty of novelty spots breaking that don't usually break. I paddled out at the dump, only one other bloke out at this stage, got absolutely pasted and returned to shore after 20 mins of copping it on the head. The waves were breaking all over the shop and i just couldn't get into position. It's just crazy the power behind those waves... great fun all the same
One novelty wave in WPB that I have only ever surfed once in about 8 years would have been a massive chance Saturday, it would have only been 2-3ft but length of ride would have been all time, especially with the wind that was on offer and the tide peak in the middle of the day.
My Palm Beach operatives reported it had picked up yesterday from our excellent session on Saturday morning, to the extent that there was a split in the group between south end (between the toilet block and Kiddies' Corner) and off the middle of the North PB carpark (recently-consistently good bank where we all surfed Saturday morning). Apparently good long rides on offer both areas and 3'+ at the north end and maybe 2' at the south.
Empty solid 4-6ft sets yesterday out of the south. Backed off to 3-4ft by the end of the surf, with pumping heavy glassy barrels for the evening sesh. Yew!
Looks a bit like Curly but there's a key element missing - about 200 people!! Head North or South this past weekend @SAsurfa
I don't think it was based on Ben's notes comments.... Moving on. How good is the Vic Torquay report for today, they are my kind of lines!!??
Massive S swell event coming for the NSW mid to south coast this coming weekend, going to be pretty solid
Yeah I agree, I haven't checked today's charts but I felt yesterdays run was stronger than Monday / the last SN notes. I'll give it a day or so before I consider a business case
Huge Fetch of 50knt+ winds pointed straight at the NSW coast but should still be S enough to produce offshores - going to be one of those Big, classic winter S swell events
Same around Bondi way. I surfed a very healthy swell @ 4-6ft on my pat malone this morning. Textbook perfect conditions. Weird AF. I guess (in Bondi anyway) if it's bigger than 4ft and below 10C you can expect to have it on you're own!
As a regular Bondi surfer I have to confess I didn't even give it a look. Normally a 6 foot south swell is one big straighhander with a heinous paddle out.
I'm still coming to terms that I didn't go down on the weekend. And now thanks to a long winded plan with me travelling for work mid week and the in-laws giving a chop out I'll be meeting the family down the coast this weekend when it will be a lake. Oh well, one day I'll surf with my son and it will all be worth it
Fun little 2 footers today with lots of sea life.First up a humpback cruised past 30 metres out from the line up then a large pod of dolphins went straight through the middle of us then 20 minutes later one of the boys thought he saw a shark, clearing the lineup
A lot more, new, and this gentleman doesn't seem the type to buy second hand. * Dual cab LC with basics extras - circa $100,000. * Tri-axle trailer engineered to spec - circa $30-40,000. * Boat & trailer - $30-40,000. The truck rig I'm guessing from seeing prices of other customs would be well on the upside of $500,000.
Not a surfboard in site/sight nfip. Ex Australia Post CEO on holiday? A few good waves a couple of days ago, flat again up here.
You did a lot better than us I think. Had an early this morning with some of the usual suspects and it was small and full and backwash-affected with a fair wait between sets but warm water and generally worth paddling out. Coffee shop afterwards was probably the highlight for me (or maybe seeing the penguins) but my son and my friend's son got one really good wave each on their lids, so we got to hear again how they were the more "evolved" surfer (theory being boards and fins get smaller as you advance (from a beginner board or a mal to a short board), so a lid being really short and with no fins at all is clearly - in their thesis - a step forward from our shortboards (sigh). They do of course lower themselves to allow us to buy them breakfast. Looked like this just before we surfed:
