That's one hell of a trip home! Thanks for the pics, fascinating! I'll have to read up on the democracy tectonic spot.

I left my monopod behind there
I emailed the airport asking about it and they referred me to the national lost property service who duly forwarded the item to me for the cost of postage

    Unjetlagged now.
So as far as I can tell our costings for the 2 of us for 18 days in Iceland were $11,750.
I haven’t included expenses for our stop overs Singapore or Helsinki (extra 5 days enroute)
Airfares to Reykjavik via Singapore and Helsinki from Sydney return
    $1905 each
    Accomodation 18 nights @ http://www.hostel.is/hostels double private rooms $2960
Rental 4WD with winter studded tyres and top insurance, 14 days, $2557 https://procar.is/
    Fuel $512 for 2700 kms
Museums, buses, ferries, tourist stuff $550
Food, grog $1360 (we self catered - we went to see the sights, not indulge in the expensive local restaurant cuisine)
Total $11750, give or take a few Icelandic Krona

Everything is expensive but you can’t shop around for fuel. There is diesel and 1 type of petrol only. Sometimes there is only a bowser in the middle of nowhere, nuffin else, pay with a card at the pump and keep going.

Massive thanks for sharing your wonderful trip .....has given me the desire to find a way to get there as well. Alaska last year lit the fire to see more of the Arctic area and your photos just intensified that feeling.

Again brilliant exposure for a different style of holiday.

It will compulsory to have a Greenland tour under the belt to live in your village soon.
