That was a freaking AWESOME day!!!

My two girlfriends Laura and and Bel either side of me (purple pants) at the far right hand side of the boobs at the beginning.

We had so much fun. And as Abi says in the interview, as a direct result of the group atmosphere, the non threatening supportive female environment and great instructors, we all achieved WAY more than we ever thought possible.

It was the 2nd year for Board ABC, and I really hope it sticks around for many more. [IMG]

    Don't need to.
It states in the conditions if you change your mind and no longer require the pass to simply let them know before the final charge date in May.

You'll forfeit your $199, but you would if you changed your CC details also.
My CC expires before then anyway - I'll either pay and collect early or have to contact regarding new card details.

Paid for mine a couple of weeks ago. With the mtb it may have paid for itself, before next winter, what a deal.

Wonder if this years one runs out this w/e as it was supposed to. Will people who go next week (extension) get the bubow at the gates?

This w/e will be it for me, that will take me to my goal, 30 days inbounds as a w/e warrior, wooliewooliewoooliewoolie (not sure how to spell that).

Just back from 4 days at Thredbo, Sat 22/9 to Tue 25/9.

Spring conditions for sure but had a great school holiday late season ski.

Lots of terrain open, really surprised at the top to bottom skiing still on the Supertrail.

The man made snow pack at the bottom near the ‘Ski In Ski out’ units must have been 1.5 m high.

Got a great deal at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel, $150pp bed and breakfast (biggest smorgasboard brekky in the snow I reckon), as well as lift pass, Leisure Centre and bob sled thrown in…. it opened on the last afternoon we were there.

In winter I usually ski at Perisher but in a good spring I reckon Thredbo is the pick.

Only thing that bothered us was the kids lessons for non-first-timers were not until 1pm. Only first time kids could get classes at 9am. With new electronic ticketing and date of birth requirements they seemed really strict on whether teenagers had to go as kids or adults. A bit of flexibility would have worked well.

Oh and Merritts café needs a re-think on it’s ordering system. Looks really arty but food service was abysmally slow at the hot food counter. I’d hate to see it in mid winter.

my plans for the next 12 or so months are:

    Hakuba January 13
    Thredbo June 13
    Canada January 14

I really dont think I could squeeze another Thredbo from my bank account.

MB, that facepalm/plant? is the victim wearing plastic bags on his/her feet? then got what was deserved!! [IMG]

Thredbo Top max temp today was 9.2deg, so I presume the village would be around 15?

by comparison Perth's max today was 14.9 [IMG]

I think a bit of snow farming may be needed tonight to keep the trail back to kosi chair open

What a way to finish the resort. On Saturday I got a first (for closing), FACESHOT just under the cornice off Sponars, and I had a witness (Backpack) so no, it was not a faceplant, or mates rooster. The skiing was really excellent, unbelievable after the tsunami on Friday night. The faceshot was a standout, the Falls skied so well, Little Stanley's was fun skiing, so many good lines that day, we didnt stop for lunch it was too good.

Sunday would have been amazing for a LWE, but after Saturday, well...

Today was typical season end type skiing for a good season. And having lifts shut was a bonus if you know how to get around. Sponars drift was creamy, Highnoon was groomed, even though Gunbarrel was shut, so no one was skiing it. So good instead of going on to FF to finish, I downloaded on Merritts, back up Basin, and did it one more time.

Yesterday afternoon I decided to don the xc's, and skied over to Cox Harbour

    [img:left][IMG][/img]

The skis were going so well I did a sick air

    [img:left][IMG][/img]

    Watched some kiting

    [img:left][IMG][/img]

Then the weather started to come in, so in the interests of safety, I created a poleline to follow home

    In order,

    1) someone on the Perisher thread said exactly the same thing.

    2) That non first timers thing at 1pm is a bit strange, we are quite used to putting our girl in lessons in the morning and skiing with her this arvo.

    3) Merritts funnily enough worked like clockwork in the hols? Maybe they were on reduced staff?? Best food on the mountain IMO [IMG]

Just got back from the long weekend, the snow quality on Saturday was outstanding, dry fun!! Friday was a bit of a challenge, Sunday was good early, as was the basin this morning (Monday). Hard to believe it was Oct 1 today, great weekend! My daughter learned to snowboard this weekend, she was actually carving some of her turns, not sliding [IMG] gotta be happy with that. Got a feeling it will be skiing in the morning and snowboarding in the afternoons next winter!

    Edit: added movie [IMG]

From Tueday's report, expect it to be the same now until the end on Sunday.

Lifts Operating: 3 lifts - Kosciuszko Express (skiing top to bottom), Basin T-bar and Karels T-bar.

Lift tickets October 1st to 7th: Adult 1 day $60, child $35. Includes skiing, boarding, bobsled and access to the Thredbo Leisure Centre.

Interestingly Perisher is charging $79 Adults and $39 Children for Eyre T-bar, Mt P Double, V8 and Carpet 3.

So my thoughts on thredbo on the weekend (28th - 30th sept). i headed up friday after chuckin a snowie [IMG] I am an ex buller skier by way of my first full season at hotham this year so here are my thoughts on thredbo:

    positives

    - looooong runs
    - epic boulders
    - outrageous amounts of snow higher up
    - the most ridiculous windblown snow constantly ive ever come across
    - friendly staff
    - spectacular environment the rivers especially after fridays tsunami were something else i could not believe how fast and full they were even as high as 1800M

    negatives / suggestions
    - name tags for staff like hotham, i think it makes everything feel friendlier
    - get some steep terrain
    - dont be in nsw
    - put more orange poles where the snow has collapsed in the higher rivers...i almost fell in one and died

i shall upload some photos later for those of us already suffering from SDS

If you rely on patrol to replace common sense with orange poles at thredbo, then you are probably going to die.

Seriously, there aren't enough good patrollers to cover every square inch.

It's you versus nature at speed.

On the web cam it looks very thin at the Kosi chair load point, but Thredbo still call it top to bottom.

Having said that, the last bend towards the bottom was about 1.5m high in banked snow when I was there a week ago, although I don't know what it is like now.

The Basin cam is starting to look rather sad.

im sure they will be doing some snow farming to keep it running down there afterall there is plenty of snow higher up.

haha fair call, i dont actually expect them to put them everywhere but in all seriousness this was a substantial hole and i could easily see a punter going down there and not seeing it and boom dead

The snow cam links from weatherzone are looking rather sad; and the satus report is stuck on last Sunday, with descriptions that suggest alot has gone between then and now. [IMG]

By the look of the Sunday morning camera at Merritts I'd say they got a good bit of recent snow up top. It was grass Friday and now solid white. However I understand only the Supertrail and The Basin are open for the final weekend.

    Amazing.

The report said 5cm fresh, wow! By this afternoon's cam, lower Merritts was back to grass.

Oh well, only 8 months to wait.
