I somehow don't think ALL of the outback snow went into making the jumps.

    Ever heard of sponsor's.

    Ever heard of sporting events.

I think you will find that the groomer's have been shifting drifts onto cut runs.

Stop doing Aus and go OS like everybody else does.

Word on the street is that KT formed a pact with the devil, to bring us this great season, to try and drive all the businesses out, and get rid of all the rude complaining punters from Sydney, and take over the world.

Wow - so to ride Antons you have to take the Merritts chair, then the Cruiser, then the traverse past the top of gunbarrel? Then to get back it's down Waimea to download again on the merritts chair?

    That's about a 90-minute round trip!

what's the reason for running Merrits rather than Gunbarrel? is it just to avoid bus link to Friday Flat?

It's a confusing snow report, because it also says that tomorrow ONLY BASIN will be open for snow riding....

    Report says:

"Tomorrow only Basin will be open for riding, access via Kosi Express

Thredbo Snow Sports School have Private Lessons only available. Bookings at Valley Terminal Lift Pass office. "

The reason why it is confusing is because the current report by Susie has been revised/added from the 6am report by Lulu.

When I posted my previous comment, the Basin only bit wasn't there. They added that at 11am.

I noticed that the reports in the past week have been half-baked like they did because they had to, not because they really wanted to do, and most days only had 6am report rather than 6am and 3pm. They carelessly wrote the reports. One day the top say "5cm over night woo hoo!", but Snow 24 hours = 0.

I naively hoped that the would be able to keep Antons open until weekend, but asoon as it started raining my hope vanished and the 11am report confirmed it.

Actually it was suggested this morning that the easiest access to Antons is to take Kosi Express then traverse to Antons, which I think makes more sense for intermediate and advanced riders than Merritts route.

The only sad thing for me is that I didn't get to ride Merritts lift one more time this season before it closed.

I heard that weekend before last there were more than 13000 people at Perisher, but only less than 2000 at Thredbo. Can't verify the integrity of this claim, but I'd say I didn't see 2000 people at Thredbo on that weekend [IMG].

I reckon Perisher got maybe a metre more than Thredbo this season, was a Perisher system time. And I am talking at the top of Thredbo, bugger all fell under about 16-1700m. Still its been melting fast everywhere from what I have seen out back. I think it was never really really cold enough to freeze shit up right, and heaps of what snow we did get was wet. Combination has resulted in a red dust like melt rate, IMO.

Reason why I bailed from CP last week with 4 days to go. Difference over a week (from 31 August) was astounding.

I'd say you are right about that.
They've also had the late season advantage of actually making snow when they could - they had the base for it to go on, which Thredbo didn't by that stage, but it certainly would have made a difference to the longevity of the snow.

Thredbo Top got about 45mm since 9am yesterday. Threbo village must have got like 80mm+ by the look of it. Thredbo will be gone really soon. I just hope the forecast snow shower above 1900 from tomorrow can extend the life of Basin area until at least this weekend.

Yep Perisher was EPIC for a good chunk of the year and at best Thredbo managed just OK

Was never really a good base below 1700m at Thredbo, had a few dumps that could have made a nice base but it always melted before the next snow fall

Was only a very short period of about 2 weeks that you could ski top-bottom outside of the snowmaking areas

The season was always going to be warm/wet, which meant Thredbo and Buller suffered badly

For that reason Perisher has my $ for next year, and will only go to Thredbo if conditions are EPIC for a few days

It's likely that I'll be overseas for most of the Winter here, so I'll struggle to get more than a few weeks of skiing in anyways so my focus will be Perisher ONLY IMO

I tried this for the first time in my life - on snowboard - at Perisher the other day. Kinda lame the way I did it. Couldn't go higher than about half way up. Felt embarrassed when people looked at my after the ride. I wish nobody was there to witness it -_-"

I nominate telecrag and Dos as the THredbo winners this year

    Followed closely by Arne.

    LMB deserves a mention.

Thanks for your contributions to the THredbo threads and hope to slide with you one day in the future

Last year at Perisher was epic. This year not so much. Still had some great days, did some new things, pushed myself more and really made the most of every day we were there this year.

I nominate Dos, his dedication to the cause was simply outstanding. Would really like a slide with him next season.

And as for you Mr Chives, I have a dream. I wants to ski with you and Milto on the Golden Eagle, it can be done. Actually one highlight this season was skiing with Milto, and fking him up in the trees at the bottom of Boundary. Though he didnt have his outriggers, and was wearing a backpack, muck me he is a good skier.

Thanks for all the reports and pictures this season guys.
It helped me see how people ski the mtn and their view of conditions.
Dos and Tele standout reports. Thanks again.
I enjoy logging in everyday to see what's been said.
I'll try to send photos next year.
Like everyone here I love skiing, and particularly winter snow. I don't do spring skiing much.
My personel objectives are pretty selfish,
    get as many days possible.
    Ski bell to bell.
    Be on first chair.
Fortunately Ive met lots of other similar minded people(though not members here).
    They are my best friends.

Went up today from 9.30am to about 1.30pm. Clear, but windy. Good snow, considering.

It's good to see this area white - as white as it can get given the weather - again.

    Oh I can't. I wouldn't qualify because I'm not capable of saying:
    - Firm and fast when it's actually bullet-proof ice sheet base with sugar on top.
    - Firm at the beginning but will soften as the day progresses when snow is as soft as ice cream or 3cm of pushed over snow on mud without base.
    - Good cover across the resort when I have to look hard not to trash my ski on rocks surface along the way.
    - Powder everywhere!!! when only 5-10cm of wet snow has fallen.
    etc.

Tough to know what to do in a poor season, when so much relies on people coming. Kudos to KT for having the balls to announce plans that IMO are the way to go to create a broader and long term business plan, but surely a hard decision from a business point of view. Who would invest in a ski resort in Australia given the climate change outlook, when you can invest in a year round holiday resort? That has skiing.

    Thredbo rules.

Now it's a good time for MTB riders to have their bikes checked. Just a couple of months to go.

What's this area below Kareela Hut called? Kareela Face?

    Lonely, deserted Kareela Hut.

    The Bluff and Hollywood Run.

Look how much snow this area where Supertrail and Eagles Way intersect. What a waste!

This is where I skidded, thrown over the rocks and tumbled down to the the Bluff which could have injured me badly if I hadn't worn a helmet. Scary stuff!

Kosciuszko (no longer) Express Top station.

Snow on gum trees. Not something you see everyday, is it?

Snowing from half mountain up. Just a little too late to save the season. Even I have to admit it and going to leave Thredbo and say good bye to winter this Sunday. Already said good bye to snowboarding today.

Is this a private ski slope? I saw no more than 15 people during my three-hour riding today.

The historic Ramshead double chair lift. It is said that they have sold all the chairs but ten. They kept these chairs in case they need to bring something up to this side of the mountain. As old as it is, they claimed it's technically still working.

Split boarding, board down those nice shots of yours Dos and split the board, skin back up, put it back into board mode and do it again

Fantastic pictures but what do you mean by "Kosciuszko (no longer) Express Top station."
