The breeze is on hair dryer mode ATM

Still a very good day of spring skiing.
High Noon was surprisingly good until almost the end of the day
Valley View is closed and there are some brown outs developing BUT there is no one about, so traffic degradation isn't an issue.
Wider skis with rocker actually like the mash!
    It's warm, very warm now.
Still lotsa big smiles on sun burnt faces :)

yeah, first thing this morning, snow was crisp but in very good condition. By 9.30 it was softening too quickly, but there's plenty there and well repaired with overnight grooming

    that pic is around 10.30

Cruised around Thredbo today for a first skiing visit to this lovely location. Some of the trails were very marginal, unsurprising given recent warm temps. All credit to the grooming team for maintaining some degree of snow cover on the lower elevation runs. We managed Supertrail, a patchy Village trail, World Cup (bits that are still open) and various runs around Antons/Sponars and the Cruiser area. Did the obligatory trip to "Australia's highest lifted point", and a surprising amount of traversing. Cold and wet for a relatively brief period of time (Mr 9 rued his decision to wear a T-shirt under his ski jacket). Some of the trails could have been better signposted ("Hey, anyone see where Eagles Way went?"), but we didn't get too lost.

And my final run of the day was the best: High Noon. Sheer beauty, even with the heavy snow. Love the steepish wide run framed by trees with wonderful views. Straight back up Gunbarrell to do it again!

I must come back again for a sneaky trip away from Perisher ;)

Great skiing this morning for the first couple of hours. Not many people on the hill and a few cms of silky snow on top of the groomers. Sponars was typical Sponars...no vis, lots of wind and lovely snow. Super trail and all other open runs were still skiing well when I had to leave.

Traditionally they only run Basin, with Kosi for sight seeing on the Monday. Do a few laps, have brekky at the nest, then tour the resort and nearby is what I normally do. Last year I think I drove around to CP and toured.

Well its end of the second last w/e and whats left? There are firm perfect groomers (see exhibit A) but these do get soft after about 9:30. The Super Trail and Friends are showing a little wear and tear from about halfway down, particularly after lunch when there's way too much brown. I expect them to slowly close over the next week.

There's also tonnes of snow up high, although it is soft (see exhibit B and C) but with surprisingly little slush and there are literally no crowds. There's still great skiing off the Basin and Karels and also the central spur. If you haven't got anything better to do (and what is better than skiing) go on and have one last ski, it's worth it!

The mountain is closing down though, Sponars today. Black Sallees, Karelea and Frostbite have all closed and the bistro at Fridays Flat seems to be running out of everything.

Well that's it for me this year and a big thanks to all of you who let me know what was going on. It seemed every time I checked one of the tele's had something to say so a special thanks to the free healers. See you next season.
