Oh, well I do like sarcasm.

Don't worry I copped enough sarcastic snowboarder abuse from Rocky & co back in the day!

I would suggest that the mode of transport was irrelevant, it was just part of the story. Chill.

You get there through a wardrobe full of fur coats, and then there’s a lamp post, and then you see a faun...

Speaking of queing up. I've found the lift situation pretty good this week. It's pretty busy and Friday flat/cruiser has a bit of a que but they're well organised and move well. Elsewhere I've pretty much just slid straight on. Happy days.

All the kids instructors I've crossed paths with have been utterly fantastic too. Some great attitudes and really reassuring. Gave my unhappy kid to the magnificently bearded John yesterday and he smiled despite Jnrs protests and he had a great time. Dealing with someone else's kids can be a real drag I reckon but well done :)

I totally agree. IMHO there should be separate lift lines for snow boarders, ones with a kelpie to assist with the logistics.

    You’re lucky it’s just a confused look.
Like Skifree was lucky he didn’t get told where to go in no uncertain terms.
Although I have noticed (regardless of one plank or two) if the helpful suggestion is delivered by PB the response is a confused look. Maybe advice is less well received from a girl, I say it nicely, but usually “f off” is the automatic response.

My comment was not about bagging on snowboarders. I am a boarder. It was about how Skifree didn’t get abused for saying something.

With the avalanche thing...firstly a variant of Merritt's Nature track is open throughout winter as the Official Uphill Track. It's surprisingly popular. I reckon he got bowled over by snow falling off a tree.

Hadn't heard anything about this bit in the story
"On Friday, a 45-year-old camper sparked an eight-hour rescue after his tent was buried by snow near Mt Stillwell in Kosciuszko National Park."

I genuinely believe a cattle prod would be a fantastic addition to the lifty tool kit.

The amount of people who turn their brain off in lift lines or never had one to switch on, is astonishing. It’s not that hard.

All good mate, I'm a big fan of sarcasm myself don't worry.

Maybe just read it wrong but seriously I just saw two pages bagging snowboarders; was a probably just the way your comment flowed through there that made me miss read it. I didn't even look at your avatar or I would have remembered you were a boarder too

It would appear he went camping in a blizzard, very close to Charlottes, tent got buried, hurt his back digging it out, called for help then abused the responders for not digging his tent out and grabbing all his gear during the "rescue".

I get seriously stressed by the general ignorant/selfish behaviour of people in lift lines. You can be chill and everything but still get yourself organised and respect other people around you. It's not that hard. [/rant]

I gave up years ago, just slide in, smile and shuffle along. I turned my stress into efficiency. If you are skiing in a group you are confined by the group.

Depends on my mood but sometimes I organise the line that I’m in. Ie are you a two, yes, well if you jump in with the two in front you’ll make a four, easier for the lifty. Oh!

Did that person initiate a rescue?

‘Takes all types to make a world’.

I spent a week in a tent during a long storm once. It sucked. My lesson was ‘don’t go camping on the main range for a week in a blizzard’

I can’t imagine calling the cavalry. Helped by the fact there was no way to call, without already being at the pub.

If people are not paying attention in the queue I usually just shuffle past them. It’s pretty regular, they’ll be playing with their phone, looking back, or just jinning about and let the line open up for a few metres. Instead of worrying about them blocking up I’ll just slide forward.

Works for me and they’re usually clueless that a few people have gone past to block up in the moving queue.

However if you’re in a singles line and you call your mates to let them cut in, I’ll pipe up with some comments.

Even more magic. Headed up to the top while kids were in lessons. The sky is so blue, snow under feet and light winds. Happy camper here. (Except for the fact I lost one cat track between friday flat stairs and bus parking - back tracked minutes later - it was gone. Bummer new boots too)

Antons park rats need to settle down with the swearing. Yelling is bearable but not if it's filthy.

You guys can ride for sure, so how about chill and be good ambassadors for the hill.

All the little kids look up to you so be mindful the little ones are watching and listening.

    Cheers.

Limited skiing for myself today but a few quick laps off sponars was good quality fun then quickly down for pickup from thredbo land and a stoked (nearly) 6yo insisted on a few FF laps. Good times.
