That’s Bungarra. Privately owned, has been there for years. .
It does have an awesome flow trail.
I saw a post on Facebook recently about some new stuff there. I’m thinking of going to give it a spin.
It’s great. Big range of trails. They used to have an honesty box thing but have possibly changed that. Google them and check strava for segments.
I haven’t ridden Bungara but that new trail on the other side of the lake is good!
I used to do the Wicked Wombat 8hr there. You need to pay now, they were doing a season pass thing, something changed with insurance I think.
It was always user pays, cycling club were free in exchange for trail work days. Anyone else was an honesty box.
It’s also limited to outside school hours so their groups have exclusive use during those times.
Their trails are great and well maintained.
Honesty box is no longer, insurance used to be under MTBA, but I think that changed.
I’m guessing not much went into that box
Mild weather......clouds slowly moving in. Beers good as always.
EDIT: Weather change incoming......breeze has picked up with a few sprinkles at village level.
As yet there is no snow at 1300ms as forecast but it is good to see some snow this summer .
on the upper mountain
I'm heading up on the 28th for 3 nights. Thanks for the stoke
Good for a beer or wine if you folks are about
Would love a wine or beer! +1 not coming this trip. Let's arrange something for the 29th? I'll be down the valley with Vic friends on the 30th and no doubt a touch of first night frenzy on arrival
Sounds good. I’ll pm. Anyone else about more than welcome to join in....
I'm planning a hike that day - probably Merrits Trail up, across to DHG and back down the river to the Village. I'm not particularly fit but have ok fitness. If anyone wants to join me, you're more than welcome! Let's chat. Otherwise we can meet for bisty balcony drinks mid afternoon?
Sorry, I had to postpone my trip due to a back injury on the morning I was set to go (Monday )
I'll be back in touch in Feb when I'm planning to reschedule. As frustrated as I am, I think it's for the best, when School hols are over and Sydney is safely back in Sydney.
Not good re the back injury. Quick recovery hopefully.
It is busy as down here at the moment. Folks everywhere.
February sounds like a good option!!
We are kind of hoping everyone buggers off after New Years.
With the BOM’s forecast it looks like any holidaymakers will be spending quite some time inside!
Speaking with a very long term village resident this morning, occupancy over the next 2 weeks is significantly more than this week
Also, not a lot of social distancing going on, apparently cash registers are more important than COVID plans right now. Pretty disappointing, especially considering what's going on in Sydney right now.
yeah I heard it was busy! Also heard a few Sydney sliders had snuck into the village using false address but the system has matched them to their passes and they will have a please explain email sent. Not sure that event can really do anything except send an email expressing disappointment. But hey it’s a start.
It was busy yesterday. I still had a blast though
Selfish c***s. Making my blood boil. I've been trying to get to Thredbo for coming up to 12 months. If anyone brings this virus down to the mountains and the borders get closed again I'll be .... I can't even say what I'll be doing.
Sending a reprimanding email is not going to do anything
A little birdy told me it's the long ago ex staff that escaped from their peninsula hours before the official lockdown and proudly boasted that they were in Thredders. So...you probably know them all very well.
Good, I hope I do know them. Will make revenge easier.
Whilst I agree sending an email will do little it will put people on notice that it is known they did the wrong thing.
Can they pass that information to the police who can go and do a polite door knock and potentially issue infringements?
The wedding in Sydney where people got busted, including the bride and groom, came about because of a call to crimestoppers.
Not sure, I guess privacy act comes into play.
but equally i guess now is not the time for any issues.
I would think that a duty of care to the other guests would supersede any such privacy requirements? Possibly only wishful thinking, but still.
You would need proof that they did actually break the regulations. There are people from the northern beaches down here right now who have broken no regulations. Some came down here before the restrictions at the start of private school holidays. Others might have come here after holidaying on the coast, or in victoria and haven’t been on the northern beaches for weeks. However, their drivers licenses and registered pass addresses are NB. It is easy to point the finger, but you would want to be sure facts were checked.
Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, I am sure there are selfish people down here who have broken regulations as well
Reporting a crime is a defense under pretty much all privacy instruments.
The combined fines were almost as much as the flowers cost! Up to $26K or so now.
Should annul the wedding. That’d show them.
Waiting for the “bridal cluster”.
Unfortunately people just don't care if they do the wrong thing, they think they're above the law. (See infected "Aspen" family in Melbourne travelling to Portsea, Buller and wherever the fck they wanted. They should have been named and shamed same as those two girls were in Brisbane)
Yeah, mum and dad had different lots of friends caravanning all year who were treated like absolute shit in NSW & QLD because of their Victorian plates. Yet they hadn't been in Vic all year.
Well Phil the chemist was almost lynched himself...
Re occupancy - have heard that Jindy is busier than winter and woolies have half the staff. yay.
What was the date of the private school last day of term?
Lady's retrospective back dated the isolation date. By like 3days I thought. But I think that, that date was more than 14days ago.
Had some friends come down here. There kids last day at school was 2/12, they came down 3/12. There was a retrospective backdating of restrictions for northern beaches residents who had travelled. I forget the exact date, but it was something like if you travelled sfter 5th or 6th, so they were ok. The suspected primary transmission event on NB was 8/12. So it would only be those who came straight down who were not restricted, and I imagine nearly all of those would have gone home now. My friends reluctantly went back, and had to go into NB hot zone and lock down
Yep can confirm Thredbo is chookers
Bit wet too!
Sorry about the shake.
Any word on the Thredbo streets regarding winter season passes coming on sale?
