Managing projects takes resources, it pays not to stretch these as a client.

And there is only so much space & infrastructure at Thredbo itself to support projects while keeping a year round resort running.

New Snowgums seems like it would cause issues for MTB bc of the amount of trail that runs underneath it (Cannonball + Kosi Flow at Black Sallees, Easy Street after Bunny Walk station, Cannonball + Kosi Flow again between Lovers Leap and Bunny Walk stations, All-Mtn and Home Run just after the bottom station).
Then again, New Gunbarrel also causes problems as having the Gunbarrel out of action drastically reduces the accessibility of Ricochet, Easy Street and the Lower All-Mtn (unless a new MTB trail is cut from the top of the Cruiser to the top of the Gunbarrel, and the Cruiser is operated)
Would this affect priority? I'm just thinking, KT wants to avoid affecting the MTB, especially considering the recent growth. I'm assuming that's part of the reason why the Gondola was chosen first; it doesn't affect anything else during construction

Just the age of the chair and difficulty getting beginners up and down from Friday Flat. MTB is big at Thredbo but its nothing on Winter.

Also it's super easy to just move a corner or 10 to avoid lift towers.

I was more thinking about the construction team going up and down the mountain, potentially having to cross mountain biking tracks (for example, isn't the access road up to Black Sallees the same road that Easy Street is located on)

Dirt was great today, numbers are generally down in the region though. Good rider turnout, outnumbered the walkers. Guess you find out who your core customers are at times like this.

    Telecrag is core!

Who’s saying Kosci is at the end of its life? Stuff keeps getting replaced as it wears. It wasn’t so long back (three or four years, maybe five) they replaced the cable.

Lots will depend on the SafeWork NSW report off the back of the Gunbarrel chair drop (have we seen that yet by the way) but I’d expect Slowgums and Gunbarrel to be replaced before anything happens to the Kosci.

The last two years have been heavily wind-affected, more so than usual. They need to fix that as a priority. They also need to fix the parking SNAFU. More than two hours to get from Jindy to a car park in Thredbo on a Saturday powder morning is just ridiculous. It’ll turn people off the resort if it’s not fixed.

The place is an ecosystem though. Allowing more people to park more quickly (new car parks) will put pressure on the lift system. Hence they’re installing new lifts. Allowing more people on the hill will put pressure on the hospitality options, hence the expansion of Merritts Mountainhouse. Taking that a step further, more people on the same slopes will mean more collisions, etc. And on it goes.

I’m glad they ditched the double decker car park for now. There were better development options available in the short term.

people within KT have said Kosciuszko is nearing the end of its life, one of the reasons snow gums is the first being changed as that they need a second option to get people up the mountain if something happened to Kosciuszko.

Naturally Snowgums has to take priority over the Kosciuszko Express because otherwise they won't have a lift to use in summer on the crackenback side

Assuming this has to do with the excavator running up and down The Schuss mentioned in the DA

I saw someone do that in spring. Full send off the low side. Didn't stay on. Heard yelling bouncing snapping bleeding groaning.

Caught a quick glance from upper am as they cartwheeled off the edge. I think they crashed on 2nd last waterbar and bodyslam launched of the last jump with no bike off the edge.

I was too far below to assist so I kept going.

I only just got off the brakes in time to drop a boulder, otherwise I would have cartwheeled.

I’m keen once life returns to normal programming.

Hopefully next weekend, which is also my first day off since 4 Jan. Unfortunately my bikes new wheel isn’t built yet so will have to hire a Thredbo bike.

I think I know what you're saying, but if it sorts out the skating rink-like mid section under GB lift line and the sloshfest between the bridge and the entry into lower high noon then surely its a good thing, even with the significant increase in punter traffic?

Prediction time: some punk gets a bit too sendy trying to use the new mid-station foundations as a side hit, and collides with a gondola cabin in midair like a bird into a window.

Yep - have popped out of there plenty of times. Its always an abrupt and bushy drop down to the snowfence that separate the snow tunnel run. They wouldn't have built those foundations on backfilled ground. Think the station is right on the top of the natural knob.

My perspective has changed cause when I used to ride Thredbo, that fence was the left swing down to FF on lower High noon.
Obviously HN now goes the other side of that grove of trees.

The pink is the extent of high noon before construction, the purple is the snowfence. The orange represents the cut in for mid-station access. The mid-station, along with towers 6 and 7 on either side of it, are all located outside of the edge of high noon

High Noon definitely pinches in as you fly by midstation. The fence is a concern, people also coming out of Friday Flat and coming from the old Creek Station. But as I've mentioned before, I have a problem with the line of snow guns down the middle of lower High Noon. It just gets hectic in that area. I've had a lot of close calls

True. They should extend the treeline down hn to include those guns.
