Agree they should move the guns to the southern edge of that part of HN, managing the outflow of bodies coming out of midstation is a big concern. Although hopefully the gondola saves the normal arvo rescues of beginners off the HN steaps. Season 2020 will tell!!

I'm really looking forward to seeing dream run with snow making.
Can only say I've seen dream run looking perfect once but with a bigger bridge and snow making on the bottom the compacted ice luge should turn into a pleasant cat track.
Not certain how it will be with so much more traffic.
My guess is because the beginning is steep there shouldn't be too many inappropriate riders/skiers going down it like high noon gets early in the season.
I'm sure everyone has seen those poor souls that are snow ploughing or bum sliding down the bottom parts of high noon.

Patroller stats will let them know if it was a mistake! Im interested, that slope is on a different aspect, so interesting to see how the snow holds up. I would imagine that it will become the first blue someone skis off of Merritts?

Snowmaking areas under certain conditions become treacherous, particularly steeper ones. Skiing polished concrete topped with sand, is my least favourite. Thinking Zalis, High Noon, Souper Trail and Towers. Usually only OK first runs after grooming. I can’t see Dream Run being any better. Saw evidence of similar at Whistler under the right weather conditions on snowmaking areas.

Yeh this would be my biggest concern. Steeper mid and lower snowmaking runs are not great interns of snow quality when it is not cold. I prefer a pump it out to create the base early on than let natural snow do it's thing on top, only cranking the guns up again if the season goes lean and coverage is at risk.

This plus "Open" more often means you are less likely to ski it fresh - when it is a dream.

Depending on opening times, you would have to catch the gondy to get first tracks.

You've just made me realise that that blissful hour from 830 to 930 at merrits is probably toast now given the village people can invade much faster.

My older legs like the shorter runs, preferably with some protection of trees nearby.
Especially good as I have a bit of a fear of heights, trees make me "feel" safer.
Please don't let them run lessons on dream run.

Start on Dream Run and move onto trees and Schuss (if it stays open) later when Dream Run scrapes out.

My best ever runs down DR, blizzard, Merritts closed, GB and SG only lifts running. Was skiing braille to get to DR, but as soon as you got in you could see, and was legit knee deep all the way.

The one good thing I'll say about these longer steeper snowmaking groomers is bugger me they are fun first thing in the morning freshly groomed with a bit of fresh man made on them, natural snow or not.

And then half an hour later when the skiers have skidded/ploughed and the boarders have heel-slid down them they are not.

When conditions are good dream run is a proper hoot, the pitch at the top as you come around the bend is awesome fun and then it opens up and you can just tear down towards the bridge, love it.

I might be on my own here but I also love the feel of the post bridge cat track type section when it's not slush, especially after it's just snowed and the trees are holding snow, beautiful, and good for a quick rest when your thighs are on fire after ripping it all the way down from Waimea via Merritts.

The snowmaking on dream run isn't going to recreate this sensation every day, only big dumps will do that, but it will at least make the mid section relatively skiable.

Pegasus (and the surrounding sneakies through the trees) in good conditions is so sweet. Gorgeous, quintessentially Australian gladed skiing. Love it.

Do we know if the gondola is a keep skis outside and carry boards ride, or an everything inside ride?

If you can get on at creek station can imagine it will be a good, quick comfortable run to do with dream run option.
Dream run / gondola will be very pleasant on a cold snowy day... Problem is everyone will probably think so too.

It's skis outside, maybe some boards outside too depending on how the doors are designed. Definitely fits eight pairs of skis outside. From this image taken from a thread on this site, it appears its four pairs of skis and two snowboards per cabin door

I skied from top of Antons to bottom of Dream Run via Boundary Riders at the end of one day last year after all chairs had been on wind hold most of the day. Untouched powder top to bottom. Kill me now.

My glissading coach really rates their tobogganing course.
