They are also grooming out ballroom this morning. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gunbarrel open at similar time to ballroom.

There were some big ones further up on high noon too that we saw from the Gondola! I'm impressed with how much snow they can make.
Yeah catching the bus between Friday Flat and VT just to get to/from cruiser area was a new one for me

Snow was much better today but school holidays have started. I believe they will be having a look at High Noon today to see how close it is to opening. I have heard that it should be open by Wednesday unless rain comes.

Snowmaking is so powerful now, it can open the mountain by itself.

    Best thing Thredbo ever did.

Any snowmaking under the Kosi last night?
All I saw was a couple guns going at the top of Rossi race course over the weekend.
They don't seem to be running at capacity.
These last few nights they could've got Snowgums going Black Sallees down to Bunnywalk or even Lovers Leap like the old days. Shame!

You can run 3x the number of guns in marginal conditions and make small amounts on every run.

With proper cold temps, at max production, the guns consume a lot more water and limits the number of guns to a smaller area of focus. Priorities apply.

The guns were on down the bottom of Supertrail this morning. I think that they feel it is better to get stuck into one side of the hill first. Hi Noon i the next couple of days.

Things are improving slowly. The gondola is lovely, Squatters Run skiing nice, High Noon working hard to open but I reckon the bottom steep bit might be a bit chunked first up.

Not many people about at all.

I've noticed they've run a groomers up skiers right of High Noon. That's good. Snow looks very soft and thin on skiers left.

Please tell me someone in Thredbo will be smart enough to amend the Gondola close time until 4:30pm.
Surely you should be able do a last run on Cruiser at 4:10pm and come down and catch the last Gondola down to the village at 4:30 (if you’re so inclined).

    Funny you should say that!

I ordered new board care equipment last week for Thredbo use (all the old stuff I had in Perth got ditched in the move - it had seen better days). In Japan I have all the waxing gear, even have ptex, there is a file but no edging tool - I usually will stick the board in once a year at the beginning of the season for a full pro tune, then maintain by myself for the rest of the season. Never have to do the edges.

I actually thought about it and bought all the edge tuning gear for my Thredbo kit! I recall one trip a few years back where I had to put my board in to get the edges done every bloody day for that exact reason! Serrated by early afternoon!

(Although maybe just using less edge brake and more riding the rail would achieve the same. :p)

Yep it's crazy, I've never seen it that bad before!

And I blame trying to dodge beginners who like to stop in unwise places for the hard edge braking LOL (couldn't possibly be my technique, no way)

Surely it is like this every June? I'm honestly shocked to see people riding at 1400-1500m in June in oz, irrespective of the amount of snowmaking we have. Its definitely an impressive effort for Thredbo to get this much operating with next to no recent natural falls.

Oh 100% impressive for them to get it operating, and I loved every minute of it, even the scary "SCRRRRRRRRR" sound my board makes on the ice.

I've only been to Thredbo in early season in 2018 and 2019, so my idea of what early season looks like is very skewed haha

I love June skiing as lack of crowds helps when skiing on limited terrain. The last few years has had a much better base then whats there now. I am 100% certain that high noon would not be open if it was in a normal year. I think the pressure to open terrain knowing it leads to more tickets or less refunds is a driving factor.

Hi Everyone- I haven't been following the process around tickets as I had written off going down this year but just found out I am working in Jindabyne around August 13. Am I right in saying no tickets available at all, in any way/shape/form around there? The website says first release sold out- does this mean more tickets will be released?
Did they all sell out in advance some time ago?

Thanks for your help- what a year.

More snow and terrain will be whats needed for a second release. Keep an eye on conditions, snow or snowmaking needed big time.

Thredbo just phoned some friends today about ticket availability actually for 30th Aug - 2nd Sep and they bought on the spot. Maybe just wait and / or contact them to express interest. Maybe there is a wait list? It is highly unlikely that Thredbo wouldnt have all lifts (or 80% of lifts) operating by August, especially with the amount of snow making these days.
