Some discussion early that the village trail is being redesigned to take out the steep pitch below the falls; heavy machinery on side would suggest that this is happening.

Do you mean the Crackenback traverse?

I only know it as the village trail, it is marked on the trail map as “the travers” just past sponors it joins the village trail just below the “falls”. There was talk earlier that this was being reshaped to take out the steep pitch just after sponors tbar.

The photos suggest something is happening

That's Crackers traverse all taped out. Good to be regraded. Your photo with sign 'reduce speed' is taken from Village trail. It is still steep just there with a sharp right hand turn on to Crackenback traverse.

It is, but the rumour posted on the thread earlier was there were plans to smooth things out and remove the turn. All I’m saying is something is happening

DA in for Dream Run snowmaking and reprofiling:
    http://www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9846

DA for new flow trail off Gunbarrell chair:
    http://www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9823

DA for further stages of new car parking:
    http://www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9841

Obviously they have their masterplan in place and are working to it, but have neglected to share the plan with the public.

I demand that they share it so that we can 'critical evaluate' with some colourful language and whining thrown in.

Looks good... already enough traffic for another flow trail and snowmaking on dream run will be excellent.

New building for Thredboland proposed also.

As with the Merrits redevelopment, I wish they’d use a bit more stonework detail to match basically every other building in Thredbo (and wider). It looks great and really carries the theme.

The DA responses asking for an extension of the new gondola to the top of Merritts made me smile. Wave your wand and hey presto!

Lots of companies would love responses to their DA's that said please expand the development!

Interesting comments by the Lodges Association.

The comment from Thredbo Lodges Association reads more like an objection than the objection!!

I don’t think a Gondola going to top of Cruiser lift is a good idea, no matter how often it is put forward. It gets pretty windy up the top of Cruiser. A gondola would be on wind hold more than the current chair

Cruiser goes on hold before Merritts usually. Busting laps out that way one blizzard (Cruiser shut) once you got to about Merritts top station level, you were out of most of it.

I'm going with the idea they'd like an intermediate station at the bottom of Merritts ($$$) then another gondola leg up to the top. That lets foot traffic off at the Mountainhouse. Still, goodluckwiththat.

DA says cover, however it also details paving so I'm guessing permanent. Also putting in two "Japanese style hot tubs"

Bistro is refurbed regularly anyway, time for another.

Surprised they're talking about the pool, seeing poolside has become a huge focus of the village over the past 10 years or so. More so than the village square now.

Bistro refurb includes a partial roof over the terrace and building a gaming machine room, so a bit bigger than the usual lick of paint.

If they were to spend that much on a big arse lift I'd much rather it go into the long vaunted village to top a karels beasty (with it's own appropriately placed mids) and extend the mtn bike trails to the top while they are at it.

I have seen some incredibly heavy addictions around those pokies in the bistro bar, it astounds me that KT are more interested in the income generated from them than the wellbeing of many of their staff and community. I know that is the case in all communities but Thredbo is a tiny community and the problems become everybody's problems. "Pokies in the bistro are the best thing that ever happened to Thredbo" said NO ONE EVER.

Yep, horrible things. Surely there's enough ways to bilk people out of money at the snow without having a stack more pokies.

I agree with your general point but...

...funnel web is groomed occasionally, but even so part of its perceived allure is it’s hard to ski well.

What's the single track from the top of Kosi then? Its all above the tree line till it hits Antons. That's all true alpine. And just as just as ecologically sensitive as Karels and Basin area. And within the lease .

It's not a bike trail, despite many ignorant and selfish riders riding it anyway. The only alpine trail you can legally ride on the main range is Charlotte's Pass to Rawson's Pass on the road.

I think @Arne is talking about the top of the AM / flow trail... which is in the alpine and most definitely a bike trail.
