Antons and Sponars I would be very very surprised. Antons only maybe soon. High Noon is already open isn’t it? I reckon ST this coming weekend if they can get some additional snowmaking. But, honestly FIIK!
No, going to Thredbo nxt Thursday and then Perisher for 5 days. Do you still think worth my while to go Thredbo for day??
Given that High Noon and Supertrail will both be open and they're both twice as long as anything Perisher has, I'd say yes
twice as long maybe but the bottom half is also twice as wet and slushy many afternoons......A quick look at the weather forecast will tell you it will be above freezing from about halfway down Thredbo this Thursday.
Antons almost ready to go IMO. Spring boxes on the line, track groomed, trail back down already cut. Look for Ts being fixed in spring boxes next. Maybe some ski patrol work to be done. Marking obstacles and roping off a couple areas.
Went for a tootle to Siggy hill this morning after a couple down HN. Basin and Karels are a few days off by the looks
If you're staying central and not tied to a resort, why not? I'm sure you'll find some fun at either.
Fair point, but in my experience it tends to stay pretty dry in June/July even if it's a few degrees above zero on the lower half. Also, I consider myself an all-mountain, all-terrain skier. Not a good skier or a pretty skier but a guy who likes to ski and keep skiing. Hence I chose da Bo. Having said that, I like Perisher, respect Perisher skiers and indeed am going to Perisher for two days this Fri/Sat because a mate I'm travelling with has an epic pass. Ha!
I've got Monday off work this week coming. What do people think. Will the conditions be worth the drive down from Sydney for a long weekend?
Definitely do it. There will be few people compared to later in the season, plus accommodation is much cheaper in June with probably lots available. There's heaps of snow! Go...go...go...do not think!
Car packed. Will leave for Thredbo tomorrow lunchtime for a long long weekend. I reckon Kosi and Antons will open before the weekend. Agreed. Unless it has rained or heavy cloud has saturated the air above the alps. The lower mountain general snow conditions stay very good in June and July even if a few degrees above freezing. Not much direct sun hits the snow and it doesn't soften.
Look I love the longer runs at Thredbo. Definitely better than Perisher. Having said that, i haven't been there for a couple of years. I'll definitely hit up a couple of days there now I don't have an Epic pass anymore. Makes it easier to justify a few days at both for the best of both worlds!
I expect Easy Rider T-Bar to open tomorrow (Wednesday). There was cat there this afternoon building terrain features.
Considering you're asking a bunch of people obsessively posting on a ski forum 2 weeks into the season the answer was always going to be yes, do it, you won't regret it. Unless you run into a room or bust your ankle poaching, but that would never happen...
