I think we did this a couple of years ago and it would be worth kicking off again. So here it goes.

As reported in the main 2019 Thredbo thread, I went for a wander up to Signature Hill this morning. Snow was good up high, where it hadn't been blown away. Smooth and silky, and perhaps boot deep in places. Not great cover, but certainly some lines to choose from.

Some wind scour and ice, but generally OK. Lots of greenery about mind you and getting back in bounds was some work. I aimed for the top of Sponars, but there was some hiking to do. Would have been better off aiming for Eagles Nest.

Nice one. Never realised you could see Seamans Hut from up there. Far left of photo 3.

Nor did I! Benefits of using a decent camera.

Thanks. The Sig hill shot is particularly nice.

We've talked about the skiing left in this country if the snowline lifted to 1900-2000m. I think you have shown us. :)

Did you get more than 3 turns down The Hill?

3.5 in fact, if you count the ungraceful entrance the way it should be

Well done. Better than I expected. A mixed bag.

I had my doubts when we spoke this morning. When we parted I said to my wife, I hope he's got his running shoes.:):):)

Yellow is the metal grate, above purple arrow for Seamans

    Aaaaaah. Thanks.

Telephoto compression and unfamiliarity with the view from behind and north of Sig Hill threw me.

Green is Seamans, blue: Kosci Rd.

Bit of wander around Ramshead today with @skifree.

A bit firm underfoot, but softening in places, blue skies and a gentle breeze.

    Wander with a whippet.

Went out yesterday, took the proper camera, even though it weighs more than my tent.

    Leaving resort

Doesn't take long, and its another world

We though it might corn a little at least up high, so off we went upwardslyesque

    To a tippy top

@Untele-whippet, after a check at the top, sending little ice slabs down, watching the disappear and reappear on the way down to see where the rollovers were, decided that it was altogether too crusty, and went a slightly easier incline to the skiers right of the peak.

I was keen to drop straight off, but after various comments from @Untele-whippet, I went easier off to skiers left, planning on hitting either the ridge, or straight down the steep, but within two turns I knew I was in trouble, and hightailed out, high on adrenaline, it was edge grabby crust, I was on lighter touring skis which deflect a shitload easier than my resorts, it was king steep, and there were rocks about.

I can't imagine how that could have been any fun at all. Everything ungroomed in the resort is basically unskiable at the moment.

It was very fun, but definitions vary I find! My line was gnarly, in the way that Valley View is a black atm.
