This ticks enough boxes it could prolly go in quite a few places, but for me it combines skiing & HG in a country I want to explore a lot more, not just in winter but all year around so I've put it in here. I haven't watched much of it yet, but it's so good (in a quirky way) that I just had to share it.

Seriously ballsy that hang glider flight!! Shitting self just watching.

Not a bit of safety gear to be seen, apart from the denim jeans.

Hang gliding in the 70's was a very experimental affair where just managing to fly was difficult enough without worrying about safety. The equipment was rudimentary and often poorly designed and constructed. Ballsy as hell for sure, and the fatality rate reflected it. Thankfully we've come a long way since.

Thx, sooooo much cheese, really enjoyable.
Loved the non touring bindings and jeans.
I'm presuming they flew off near the top of the Rudolph and the icefall of fear was the Hochstetter.

Have ventured into that area a little. Scary & ridiculously dynamic environment, something falling down every few moments.

But to launch off & fly over that, in those craft, with ski's on!! My god. Would have put the odds of success pretty low.

I watched this as a kid at Auckland town cinemas.
    On the big screen.
NZ has some epic low grade B movies from the 80s

Crikies. I don't think I'd like to fly avalanch turbulence in a modern glider, let alone one of those old death traps!

    Ballsy as hell for sure.

OMG. Only watched the trailer but definitely on the list for an evening show on the home big screen.

Hard to believe, in parts. Ok, these guys were strong steep powder skiers but that hang gliding section almost defies belief. There was a back up team, right? Um, maybe not. Thanks for posting. And the song, a la John Denver. O, those were the days.
