Hey Greybeard this was covered in a recent thread but I can't remember which one.

Tin hut has been rebuilt during the summer albeit last I heard (a month or two ago) they still needed to add the bunks etc back into the hut; the fire had been replaced two seasons ago and was working well and the toilet a year or so before that.

Given that it is seldom visited i think the toilet would still be fine.

The stove was replaced in 2013 I think. Pretty sure they flew it in by helicopter.

Wow how time flies; I'm not sure the notes on the KHA website are correct on the fire as the picture of me stoking the fire on their website was taken in 2014 and it had only just been installed, wow there I was thinking all that happened in 2015.

I seem to remember seeing a photo somewhere of the heli dropping the stove in? Possibly installed in summer 13/14?

Found this link showing the replacement of the frame and a bit of a spiel on OEH site

Yeah I think it was replaced just before the winter, I posted a pic of me at the fire in the B.C thread and the KHA member for the area contacted me and asked for the copy. I remember thinking at the time that we must have been close to the first to use it as their was literally no ash in the fire.

Great photos on flickr shows the extent of the work done and the damage / rot...... I also heard that they basically rebuilt the chimney which the flickr photos show but the commentary doesn't. Good to see it will be around for a while yet as its probably my favourite hut in the mountains.

Thanks Zac. The toilet comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

I wonder if they've retained this treasure

Team Bears approve of the above activity....but suggest caution after too much rum/coke!

I stopped by at Tin a few days ago. The bunks were still absent, as was any furniture. Not a permanent state of affairs, I hope.

Patience ..;)... the wheels of progress in KNP. just go in different manner to other areas. You certainly could not have Team Bears bringing in a kitchen table on their Bunnings trolley....!!

Everybody must wait fir whatever reason....sure to be a good one!
Perhaps management plans need another year or two to develop!
The Horse issue is probably got Staff a bit bewildered.

Perhaps an interior designer has been commissioned to provide a report?.

NPWS ran out of time to put the bunks back in, scheduled for next year.
The stove hasn't changed since the one you know well.
The toilet should be OK, haven't heard any bad reports this year.
