Bawbaw will not allow you to slide down their specific slopes without a designated toboggan (and you won't get very far up the ski slopes with one.) What does a designated toboggan look like? Met a forbidden child with what looked like a standard tobogger, seemed to be correct in size and shape, but it did appear a bit more more mattressy than rigid. I know that garbage bags are out, and anything vaguely steerable is out, and Swiss style wooden style is verboten. What about this season's Aldi model?
As a professional toboggan instructor I think we need more instruction on how to use them safely. It's all in the shoulder rotation.
I once made a slider from a tricycle and little skis and a child,s car seat. It was very popular and I considered it real safe in a crash. But then somebody broke all the original welding in a Mad Max incident. Who tho sho?.
Not sure about BB, but a semi-serious answer: Aldi have for years and years sold toboggans which did not meet the simple requirement for Australian resorts of "moulded plastic". I mean, how hard is that? They brought out wood and metal ones, and then those foamy/mattressy things over which the rider had no control whatsoever. This year, they've finally managed to engineer a 'moulded plastic' one. Geniuses!! But at first glance it would appear to be manufactured out of an inferior plastic which will get brittle in the cold, and hence may be liable to break exposing sharp edges, which in an impact with a young body could prove to be disastrous. Time will tell.
As you know , Teckel, I am always deadly serious except when answering the "post before you thinkers" I wondered about "Only use plastic moulded toboggans, approved by the ARMB (toboggans with pointed ends and over 2.5kg are not acceptable)" I wondered about the "pointed ends". And are there pictures or lists of "ARMB approved toboggans"?
I have very fond memories of flying past skiers on my trusty home made toboggan and crashing into a solid ice wall......best one was on an old tractor inner tube......freaking dangerous indeed. Liking the idea of a ski bottomed bike to zoom around in as well.

Being at Baw Baw the past week I found the toboggan hill chaos! My daughter didn't enjoy it one bit.. Kids flying everywhere, kids walking back up the middle of the hill.. My daughter did about 2 runs on the toboggan and decided she didnt like it at all- and in fact As much as it terrified me i felt she was safer skiing from the top of the ski run for her firsts time than going on that crazy toboggan track!
Wouldn't it be good if they could put a barrel of grog around the neck of a big dog, and then he could bring it to you?
Bears thought S.Q had a rocket toboggan till I pointed out that it was a keg on skis.. rocket toboggan designed to shoot over ruined castle in bad weather so T.Bears not exposed to elements for too long.would be down at Pretty Valley Hut in zero time passing skidoos like bullet train....Bears could use bbb techniques to change direction... Bears saying the new craze would be starting at bottom of slope and hurling upwards into little kids massing at the top...
Looked at web cam today of toboggan run, CARNAGE Oh and noticed the maltese is running Uphill tobogganing now you're talking
