    No, didn’t get that high.
Still feels a bloody long way up at top of Brevent.

    Will be back.
    2 years sounds about right.

Puts all other skiing into perspective

Yeah I don't go up often, touring is limited.

At Lucerne now via Martigny, montreux and Lausanne.
The train between Chamonix and Martigny is very very special.

Our first time to Cham we arrived via the train from Verbier via Martigny. I was licking the glass.

yep, it is an awesome trip. Have recommended it a few times.

My favourite though for lake & mountain scenery especially in spring is probably Interlaken to Luzern via Meirigen.
Did you go to Luzern via Bern?

re Cham - you know you will be back especially with unfinished business. VB must be done.

Thinking back (a fair way) to my first trip there in 1989. I had been to a few places in the years before that and the week before had been scratching around in limited cover at Sestriere. But then lobbed at Chamonix and skied LGM on a powder day. Blown away would be putting it mildly. A day or so later a sightseeing trip up the Ad'M, wow! Had to then sign up for a VB trip which I did a couple of days later. Was a very memorable week. Did it again a few years after that, then years later again for the HR.

I'm another huge fan of the train between Chamonix and Martigny although I think the reverse journey is better viewing.

Once I took the 6am train to get to a flight out of Zurich. At each mountain stop kids got on for their trip to school.
    High quality commute.

Via Bern though had hoped to go via Visp but lady in Office said she couldn’t make it happen.
Not sure why as I reckon I could have made it work but wasn’t sure enough to argue with her.

Touring from Flegere is epic though.
And some of the best stuff on offer I reckon is over the other side of the hill in Italy. Certainly my best days have been over the other side.

Will be flying into München in March and staying a night. Fair chance I might drop in there again.

Always remember one of the previous times I was there. Some Australian girl sat down and ordered a "small beer"... She got quite a shock when the waitress brought out the standard Mass (1L Stein). We only serve one size beer in the Hofbräuhaus... :)

Homemade old school Bockwurst with local fresh herbs for mine. Really good weisswurst - ( hard to find excellent examples) is best found in very small town butchers these days.

Credit where it's due, she got through it. I had two in he same time but none the less.
It had been a big day with a visit to Dachau concentration camp. Still don't know if I was happy to visit but kind of glad I did. Very harrowing.

    In Salzburg now, just gorgeous

Had a similar feeling visiting Auschwitz.

Salzburg certainly is very nice. Definitely wander the old town and up the Burg. You may see the odd reference to Mozart. Mozartkugeln etc.

When I worked in Vail, I lived literally next door to a brewery that was owned by the Prince of Bavaria, I could literally see the tanks from our balcony.

They had happy hour for Apres and at the start of the season you would struggle through 1 litre, by the end you were motoring through 2 and a cheeky half litre of hefeweizen to finish!

    She’s a trooper your wife!

Yeah, a trip out to Dachau is indeed sobering. But one of my most enduring memories of Munich, that and outdoor ice skating while it was gently snowing.
