First chair warm up run in the dark is the biggest thrill you will ever have on skis, especially if you hit the finish line first [IMG]

    hey

i've always wanted to do this. I think i know a little about it but extra info would be good.
Is it a set course from Karels to friday flat? karels to supertrail to sundowner to friday flat?
Is there divisions for the pro's n the punters?
Is there a sprint at the start?
    how ridiculous is it? [IMG]

If the weather is good you start from the top of Karels with a Lemans start and then you follow the super trail down to the top of world cup where it then turns back onto the supertrail again just before the steeper drop down to mid station (although the course was changed last year to make it a bit slower) then onto the bottom of the super trail at the finish line at the Valley terminal. The trick with the race is the start as once the people in front have there skis on there is almost no chance you will catch them.
Check at the thredbo web site for details as to what division you fit into.
Just remember we will be sandbagged by skiiers in amateur that are clearly not recreational skiiers.
If anyone wants to say GDay on the morning I will be wearing yellow top blue pants and red helmut.

Not so hard pack this afternoon. Had a late start at around 11am and skied all afternoon in fresh pow. By far best day since the 25cm dump a few weeks back.

Late decision but going in the race tomorrow. Grey Blue White and Green race suit. Open mens.
Weather looks like it’s going to be good so bring it on. I wish everybody a safe run. (He says in a scared voice).

    How'd you go Schuss?

Can anyone point me to official results? While googling (unsuccessfully for results) I found a freshly posted boot cam footage from this morning.

It was an awesome morning up there, The course was very tight this year with a lot of gates. I went in the open mens snowboard, the amount of energy you can spend in 3 and a half mintues is crazy. I got a good start followed by a face plant as my edge slipped out on the second gate, got back up and had several more scetchy moments as with only one practice this was the first speed run. coming into rossi course a competitior tried an inside move I held my line and we came together at speed which resulted him going down. I got through the last part clean and got to the bottom in 5th place which is the best I have done so far, the top 5 were called into some gates as places were confirmed everything was sweet then as we walked out of the holding area I was told I had been disqualified for missing a gate on rossi, see the guy that crashed into me on rossi missed the gate and i went through clean, so I was shocked as i had got through every gate easy. When I told the judge this he replied it's out of the prizes anyway and couldn't give a toss, then i found out later today the person that dq me said over the radio someone missed a gate but he wasn't sure who and he hoped they fessed up at the bottom but I somehow got pinned for the other guys error and he was given 5th place. It was a great race just wish the result was what it should of been.

    Results

Was a very tight course and very slow. I came 2nd last of the Open mens. All the team Sweden guys had an edge.

I found open men’s better as there was less people in your way, but of course stronger competition. During the 1st half of the race was neck and neck with my friend. We got in each other’s way. Happy to see that my time is approx 2nd place in the other divisions.

But an awesome event with and awesome sunrise. Post some pics soon.

Nikolas said it was the easiest money of his life. Just had some to pull some moves to get through the field which slowed him down. The other Swed was winning by a long way, but didn't see a gate till too late and missed it (he's a slalom skier :p).

Excellent work! As you said your time was good enough to be second in any other division (even second in the open womens!!) [IMG]

Veterans is 35 and over (or over 35, not sure exactly). Schuss, was there a big collision or something in the womens? Seems a few of the top ranked girls didn't even finish.

Hobber, nice views from up there, I used to live next door a long time ago [IMG]
