So I know you can trail bike ride round buller so I’m theory can you also timber sled around there then??? Has this been touched on by VIC government or a grey area?

You can't ride a timber sled within any Victorian alpine resort boundaries during the declared snow season.

Couldn’t you still sled along the already set out trail bike routes?

If you can ride your trail bike out to Craig’s Hut then can you timber sled out there ?

Not within resort boundaries. Unless you're using it to haul your gear. You may not ride it.

There seemed to be two of these threads, the other has been retired.

If you're using the sled as a toboggan - only moulded plastic toboggans can be used in Victorian alpine resorts. No metal, no wood, no foam types like Aldi and other cheap shops used to sell.
And once the winter season is declared, no bikes except on roads.

I referenced the other thread but the question wasn’t answered, I know you cant use motor bikes in national parks just thought it was strange that Buller advertises dirt bike riding in the summer and that one might be able to convert their bike into a timber sled and ride the same trails in winter.

But Buller isn't in a national park. So dirt bike riding is acceptable by the rules of the Buller RMB.

    That is not a sled.

    That is skinny skidoo.

So I suspect it would be subject to the same rules & regulations as skidoos.

Exactly if I can ride my dirt bike around Mt Stirling then surely I can convert it to a sled.

No. The rules set by the Buller & Stirling RMB prevent this.

Why not just go for a ski and leave the decibels at home?

Unless you have access to freehold land above the snowline, there is no way to legally have private motorised vehicles in the snow in vic. There are some hire things allowed in resorts. No point trying to find loopholes or claim new products

An interesting hypothesis, there could indeed be a loop hole in there somewhere. The conversion does not make the dirt bike a skidoo or a toboggan. It is simply a dirt bike with an modified rear tyre.
