    Hi all,
I'm spending a week and a half in Whistler at the end of Jan. I'm travelling solo and want to stay somewhere suitable where I can meet plenty of others like me. Single or shared rooms are fine. Any recommendations?

    Hi D_Dog,

I would highly recommend the Hi-Hostel at Whistler (Cheakamus). The bus stop is right outside (15 minutes to Creekside and 25 minutes to the Village). The Hostel is really well run and very clean. Great place to meet new people. I stayed there for 3 weeks in January 2017. Approximately $40-$50 per night (shared room of four). I believe you can book individual rooms for around $140 per night.

    Thanks for the recommendation!
Was it easy to get in and out of town from there, both with and without skis?

Yeah, on the bus with snowboard/ski's wasn't too bad (sort of like the Hotham bus, but less people). Without ski's it was a breeze. There's also uber/taxi's - the bus runs until well after midnight from memory.

its all about the skiing ~
    so Southside lodge,
bit of a dump, but crucial for a 3 min walk to the overlooked Creekside gondy.

I think you are there a bit too early for this

But could be a good option for others going forward

I will also be in Whistler from the 20th-30th Jan solo. I managed to find an air bnb right near Rimrock cafe - 10min walk to creek-side gondola and opposite a bus stop if I chose to bus to/from whistler village. I do recall there were plenty of dorm/backpacker options when I was looking if sharing/partying is what your after.. You may also find something advertised on Craigslist ? ? Good luck with your search D_Dog !
