I see the f$&kers in their pyjamas drop off their skis get back in their cars go back to their lodge in Jindy have breakfast drive back and saunter back to the line just before opening!
I remember Barton Lynch one time left his board up the front of Death Barrel queue one morning, walked off to get a (takeaway) coffee, and discovered a “local” (stupid term) had moved his board, replacing it with his own. It seems the “rule” such as it is, is inconsistently applied for “locals” only. Even if you’re a great guy and ex world champ surfer.
Hahaha I remember the bottles but my recollection was they are selling something.... From memory many of the bottles were petroleum, instead of leaving a full bottle to be stolen, you left an empty and then when someone stopped they had a 5 or 10 litre Jerry can. Not efficient. My favourite was neighbourhood watch, dad had to drive the cops around once a month.... The reality is they are that chilled as it’s part of life they can not change. It takes x days to cross that boarder and you can be assured that it being priced in, as is the bribe for the tourist bus being able to by pass the trucks. Point is (and to bring back to this thread), how is it really effecting peoples lives? Over there they are happy to wait, they can not change the wait so accept it. Here people put skis down and grab a coffee, standing by their skis, does that really effect the masses who turn up at 8:30? No!
First lifts banter/ coffee is all about a Taoist approach/ hedge against the evils of hectic work day mornings.
If they drive all the way from Jindi, drop gear off, drive back to jindi, and then back again, they deserve first chair!!
Maybe - i wasn’t aware of that. Luckily for me I don’t have a public profile so there’s no permanent record of all the stupid things I say !!
When people act like ass***** then they should be held to account.. How else will they learn. Im doing everyone a favour.
I think I saw some rather unimpressive pictures of skis lining up earlier in the thread. This was Kosi on September 17 2017 at 7:47am. And I wasn’t even at the back of the ski queue. Can you imagine me removing all those skis and pushing to the front as some of the Miss Snow It All whingers suggested?
No you're right. I'll be dropping an old beanie there at 6am and socialising somewhere else before returning to claim my spot too.
That's unbelievable, just chuck them over the barrier and go to the front or otherwise just ski over them!
Probably to the medical centre I guess. Rachel telling thredbo how to behave is, well, just ugly. For years I wanted to punch her in the face for lying her way into snowmaking off her face on charlie then writing a piece quoting me and attacking thredbo over nucleator. She was a guest of media and lied her way into a restricted area to attack the company and me personally. But it was so she could sell ads to go skiing so cool. Hope she skis off a f'off massive cliff though still.
The journo behind the story this thread is talking about is rachel/misssnowitall/snowsbest. She's known for creating controversy about thredbo to sell ads and go skiing. She's an ankle.
I've just revisited the OP and this thread is clearly one massive and very successful ad for her account (if people are clicking on the OP link) Seems the person who posted the thread may even be associated with said 'journalist'. The 'quotes' regarding people leaving to go to lodges etc are unattributed as I s everything else in the batshit bollocks story. Lame click bait.
Sorry, never been queuing for a lift this early so totally unfamiliar with this whole concept of leaving skis to mark your place. Does this happen in Victoria, I have no idea!
I don't Facebook so maybe I am missing something - as I said in one of my earlier posts I did click on the original link but as it was a "closed group" I couldn't actually see anything so I'm not sure what the point was? I just thought whatever and moved on - was the purpose to get people to apply to join? Too much effort for me Was wondering why not have it open? Anyway, no biggie for me - not a fan of facebook.
I'm pretty sure I have seen similar on the Falls Express (or whatever its called these days) load earlier in the season. The cam used to take a couple of images - 1 looking up to Wombats Ramble and the other was a great view of the load - after this discussion I have checked a couple of times and it hasn't shown the load (both labeled as Slalom Plaza 1 and 2 showing the same view but different time stamps). @Ian D or @Richard - what's the deal with that cam - how come it doesn't seem to show the chair load these days?
No worries - I only ever used to check them here but I did check the (not sure if it was RMB or Ski Corp) official site the other day as well and it was showing the same static images but hooly dooly, just checked again then https://www.skifalls.com.au/discover-falls-creek/conditions/snow-cams And they are streaming a live view!! Never noticed before - the village cam was occasionally panning whilst in the live view so I guess it is serving the different images but it looks like the Slalom Plaza one is fixed. Good that they upgraded the cam to actually show a live view (I don't mind watching via youtube full screen) - the Thredbo live cams were great to check this season and if I had known Falls had a couple of live ones would have checked them out more over the season Both the RMB website and you guys are only showing the static views.
I haven't read this whole thread (yawn, same old conversation) but it reminds me of a close friend who is notoriously famous for camping out and queuing up for concert tickets. In 1978 he camped out at the MCG for a week to get tickets to see Bowie's first Melbourne concert (the scene was the opening sequence in the Dogs in Space movie). Then it turned out there were NO reserved seats so THREE WEEKS before the concert he camped out at the MCG again. But the week of the tour, he left his friends in the Q and flew to Adelaide for Bowie's first ever Australian concert, then flew to Sydney for those two shows, then flew back to Melbourne and took up his place in the Q again and had front row at the MCG. Everyone was chilled that he strolled back to the front of the Q the day of the show. He didn't bring any extras to the front. It poured rain all night and everyone had a great time. I know many people who park their skis at the front of the Q but I personally don't know one single person who has left the area to go back to the lodge for breakfast. That's simply rumours trying to cause hate.
I've camped outside many times for concert tickets. Kids today dont know what they are missing out on with this online sales rubbish
I'm initially surprised that the poll is not more than 75% against......given Australia's historically strong queuing etiquette. But then ....this is Thredbo.... I can only presume that those who are "pro" dibbsing first, second, tenth chair by putting their skis down, wouldn't mind at all anyone arriving and skiing right past unattended skis right up to the front. If they don't mind....there is no problem here.
All very amicable this morning, general chit chat and coffees all round. Everyone clicked in and ready to go in plenty of time before lift started.
