I own a unit in Les Chalets and have been skiing at Falls for the last 18 years and been an owner for over 12 years. Les Chalets has a mixture of units from luxurious to very basic. I would class my unit as warm and comfortable with such luxuries as 50" flat screen TV, Spa bath, dryer, new kitchen, great heating and of course being in Les Chalets convenient location and great views.
So, I had a booking for this week , and I assume the booking was taken a while ago.
I received a call from my booking agent to inform me that the woman staying in my unit (been there 1 night) is not happy because there is some mould around the main sliding door. It can't be removed as it is in the silicon but to satisfy her Ted sent 3 cleaners to try and clean any mould found.
Not only did she not appreciate this effort but she was abusive to the cleaners and then started calling the unit sub-standard and demanded her money back. She even threatened to sue...what a bitch from hell.Funny thing is she didn't ask to be moved to a better unit so I can only assume that she happened to find a better deal on the mountain as there are many apartments offering half price deals this week due to low visitation.
She has now been blacked marked as an undesirable guest.

I'd just like to say people like you are not welcome in my unit and if I had my way not welcome in Falls Creek. You have just cost me $3k as I could have booked my unit 10 times over this week.

    Thanks again

    Peter D

I'm am always amazed on Trip Advisor when people take photos of tiny stains/mould around bathroom sliding doors and think it's the end of the world.
Why did it cost you $3000?
Surely you didn't give her the money back?

I think I seen this woman at a resturant in my home town the other day...
The owner (after 30mins of peace keeping) called her a bitch ...

I have stayed in a few units in both buildings of les chalets and have found them to be great location and comfortable, 1 or 2 may need a little maintenance but usually the price reflects that .last season was extremely happy with the unit we had, even rang agent on the Friday to see if we could stay extra night but unfortunately it was booked for wknd. I sent agent email thanking them when I got home , did mention though that there were lots of spiders crawling around in bedroom , was very funny when hubby who is terrified of spiders had one crawling across his head -agent thought that was funny too , said they would put a bug bomb in there! Would definately stay there again, unfortunately though going to book last minute this year if september is good so not much left in either building - and I'm a creature of habbit, like staying in same area .

The majority of the ski spots we have stayed in throughout Australia and some in the rest if the world, have been in need of a little maintenance, or renovation. Unless they were brand spanking new.

I have not heard of anyone ever giving the entire booking cash back, even if disatisfied. I was once put into a room totally not matching what I had booked and paid for (Tokyo) and did kick up a fuss, it was not fit for purpose - we could simply not all fit in the room, we were moved at no charge in the end.

However I have had to change bookings and cancel bookings before, and every time I have at least forfeited the deposit, if not the entire booking amount. On the occassions that the hotelier has been able to re-rent the room they have always been honest and credited me the funds minus a booking fee.

At best you should have offered her a discount to appease her disgruntledness. But really, she should walk away having to pay you in full as well as the next accomodation.

Yep. Tou should bend over backwards for the majority of your customers, but every now and then you will encounter a total loony and shouldn't feel bad about telling them that they would be better off elsewhere.

Good companies try to please everyone, great companies delight most people but don't try to accommodate ones that don't fit their service proposition.

Lady mamabear, I totally agree but after speaking with MMS it seems that they only see this type of person one or twice a year . I have never had any complaints about my unit and if anything it is way above average. I have people that rebook year after year and also I get emails (via MMS) stating what a great place it is to stay. So this is really out of left field.

I have stayed in many places at Falls and yes some of them have been really average but I'm there to ski and after skiing a couple of beers and sleep I never have time to notice if there is mould around the window frames.

Anyone that would like to visit Les Chalets to see what is like is more than welcome to call in for a beer or wine after the 31st of August...

    cheers...Peter

would love to go up for a week in september. [IMG] [IMG]
i have stayed in the top floor front building centre with the winch on the balcony and it was very comfy, just too many stairs to cart your gear up and down.

That's probably also why there arn't many apartments left for early September- I really need to stop suggesting for people to stay there because now I may need to stay elsewhere !

But if you are a skier you must have some degree of fitness and leg strength. I'm on the 3rd floor (Unit 8) and on arrival I always think "those bloody stairs" but after being there a couple of days I don't notice them.
As far bookings fx 140 , I think I only have the last week available ...unless some other goose decided to pull the plug because of some mould [IMG]

    Pfft third floor stairs!
    That's nothing!!!

This is the staircase I had to climb every day for 3 weeks BEFORE climbing the 3 flights to my apartment inside the building in Zermatt this past Janaury.

    Still didn't lose any weight...

That's why we ski on the hills of Australia rather than the mountains of Europe.

the stairs didnt bother me much after the initial arriving and lugging all the gear up but my young daughters, wife and wifes friend winged all week about it
even tried to use winch but it was padlocked and the manager said it wasnt legal to use anymore which was a bugger
    still a nice place
and i am sure there were patches of mold around the shower there, might be an issue with the building [IMG]
