I'm gunna put this here as an "official" thread to follow the season before I get there in March. I'm concentrating on Tahoe and Colorado, as I'm visiting San Francisco and Denver.

SNOTEL automated snow gauges: http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/snow/snow_map.html (if you don't see any data on the map, it's probably because the day's measurements aren't in, try changing the date to the day before at the bottom right)

    Opensnow forecasts: http://opensnow.com/forecasts

yr.no long term for Donner Pass (Sierra Nevada near Tahoe) and Berthoud Pass (central Colorado Rockies):

From the storm at the start of this week (people were calling the best December day in years!) totals were 20-30 inches around the USA, but amazingly the winner was an obscure site in north-east Nevada that recorded 33 inches!

A long blast through most of next week looks like it'll make almost everyone in the western US happy.

The PNW looks like the place to be out of anywhere in the world right now. "Best december in years" and it keeps coming for the next week.

Yeah I remember I was shocked to see Mt Baker ("snowiest place in the US") had an upper mountain base of 140cm in peak season. A below average base for Perisher/Thredbo!

East coast, eastern seaboard is having its warmest start to winter for a long time.
First cold days in NY this weekend. But warming back up for the next 7 -10 days. No white christmas here.

Been a very merry christmas in the pacific northwest with Mt Baker back on top, recording a ludicrous 153 inch base on the upper mountain or 388cm!!!

Jackson Hole this morning, a few photos from my walk before getting on a plane and leaving :(
But it's been an amazing week with an inch or two each day.
