Guide reckons we got the day of the season. Got to go all the way to the bottom. We did the Petit Envers Plan, steeper and more direct than the classic route but I wouldn't say it was particularly steep, though steep enough to keep momentum on a board. Sad that this glacier drops each year (30cm). It's very obvious on that second-last pic, that the glacier used to be at the level of the few trees scattered around.

I’ve done that once - 2000 I think it was - the season after Chamonix experienced awful avalanche related deaths.

Truly a fantastic, never to be forgotten experience. The skiing is a bit meh but the overall experience is a lifetime highlight.

Yep 7th of March was quite the day. I skied straight in to something that usually requires a 30-60m rappel and skied 1000m of bottomless pow.
